Just had a nice two course lunch for our 27th anniversary. However, when we said we were in no hurry for our sweet, we negotiated a via Q&A session of five minute intervals, having agreed a delay of twenty minutes. We were told by the waitress that "chef" wanted to go home !!? Basil Fawlty eat your heart out !!
We have seen the Haddon house many times, but never gone in. We stayed here only for one night- but wish it was more. It all started with huge amounts of parking. The check in was with a friendly and helpful lady. COVID rules were adhered to, but with sensitivity. Our room was beautifully decorated with a good outlook. It was well appointed with whirlpool bath and television at the foot of the bath! It was spotlessly clean. A little too much furniture perhaps but really lovely. The bed was a bit soft but we slept well. Breakfast was in the bar. The decor is a little dated but still high standard. The breakfast itself was gorgeous. Massive choice and excellent quality. For the price (£130) This is difficult to match. We will be back!
We were so fortunate to find a hotel operating so well under Covid restrictions but Haddon House was so much more. We had four days there and they couldn't have looked after us better. Clean, comfortable and warm in a fantastic location just a short walk from all the attractions of West Bay ... and within very easy reach of lovely Bridport and wonderful Lyme. The owners and staff deserve congratulations at managing to be friendly and helpful in these difficult times. It must have been so heart-breaking for them to know that they'd be closing for another four weeks when we left. Breakfast was absolutely excellent, freshly cooked and plentiful ... service was unobtrusive but always there when we wanted something. They worked wonders to keep fresh choices on the dinner menu right into the second Lockdown - we had delicious fresh fish, lots of seasonal vegetables, good house wine at affordable prices. A hugely enjoyable stay and we have no hesitation in giving five stars. We'd go back at the drop of a hat and we thank them wholeheartedly for 'charging our batteries' ready for Lockdown. When life becomes a bit more 'normal' we'd love to come back, not just to the delights of Dorset but to the hospitality of Haddon House hotel.…
A wonderfully warm and friendly hotel. Phenominal staff. That look after your every need. The hotel is traditionally British. With some amazing touches. We thought the breakfast was cooked beautifully and the choice is extensive, As is the evening meal options. Good quality meats and Seasonal vegetables all seasoned to perfection. Wine's are quality and not to expensive. Must big up the waiting staff. Happy and friendly. We will be back.
We stayed at this hotel for a 2 night break and could not fault it. It was clean, very comfortable, and perfectly located. The breakfast was fantastic with a large variety and we had dinner one night in the hotel which was excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly and did well to make things run smoothly while also having to implement extra safety measures for Covid. There is plenty of parking and it is an easy walk to the beach. I would love to visit this beautiful area again and would definitely return to this hotel.
