Meal for two last night (22 April) Met by welcoming, but not "in your face / have a nice day" staff. I had liver, cooked exactly as requested. Young waitress knew the products, and dealt efficiently and accurately with my partner's queries ( gluten free requests). Would certainly return. Palmer's beers in good condition, large, tidy garden and car park. No idea about rooms, didn't even realise they had them.

The garden has always been lovely at the Marquis of Lorne but is all the more welcome when eating al fresco is required. The separate areas for children with a proper playground area means that everyone can be accommodated happily. Add to that really lovely classic pub food and friendly staff and owners, and just a little sunshine, and it is really wonderful!

We ordered takeaway meals from here during lockdown, excellent service, lovely food, piping hot served ready on the plates. We have had takeaway a few times and it has always felt like a proper treat. Thank you!

We went for a ‘socially distance’, pre-Christmas meal with neighbours. We booked separate tables, and were placed next to each other, with the required gap in between It worked so well and we were able to enjoy a festive meal, feeling safe and well looked after. The food and atmosphere was excellent. As we only went for lunch and didn’t stay there, most of the following question are not applicable

The Marquis of Lorne is a hotel/pub that is tucked away in the countryside and is run by people who quite clearly love their work. The rooms are completely different from traditional hotels. They have character. 👍😀. The front of house staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The chef is a genius and the extensive menu is amazing and the quality of the food is wonderful. Deciding which of the wonderful meals to choose is the hardest part. My partner and I have just returned from a weekend break there and we cannot wait to return. We cannot praise this hotel high enough. It is a shame that only five out of five can be the grade. Thank you for the wonderful time you helped us enjoy.
