had one night here on a business trip to the area, was made to feel very welcome, rooms small but spotless and very comfortable. Homely. Restaurant is busy with locals and visitors a like and well deserves the support. The food is well cooked and well presented- menu is very good with good use of local suppliers

Not sure what to expect but from previous reviews,The Marquis of Lorne proved to be a quiet and relaxing stay. The room (room 3) was reasonably appointed with a view over the garden and the local countryside. The food in the restaurant was, however, absolutely fantastic. Beautifully cooked and presented with a choice of good wines. The hosts were welcoming...

Sunday lunch for 5 on the 2nd August - great roasts, beef, pork or lamb - all cooked fresh and hot with loads of vegetables and gravy - £11 for one course £16 for two. Highly recommended. A beautiful day so sat in the garden, peaceful and picturesque - what's not to like?!

Was in Dorset for one night and had the Marquis recommended as a good place to stay. Arrived early afternoon and was shown to a lovely room with 4-poster bed and wonderful views. Dinner menu had a great selection at reasonable prices - had a delicious haddock and chips washed down with couple of pints of well kept and very...

I only stayed for the weekend. I was there to scatter my ex Son - in - Laws ashes in West Bay, obviously a fairly sad occasion. However the owner and staff were very friendly and made us feel more than welcome. My room was extremely comfortable and spotless with excellent en suite facilities. It was located quite well off...

We visited the Marquis of Lorne for a short break, the rooms are basic but clean tidy and comfortable, the bar area is typical pre gastro pub, old country and is comfortable, warm and welcoming, local bear is very good. As for the food, well you have to sample it to believe it, absolutey brilliant, faultless, enjoyed every meal. The...

In my experience, Sunday lunches in pubs vary a lot and I've experienced many mediocre meals in pubs where the food on other occasions has been very good. This place is different. Food good at all times here - we have visited on a number of occasions - and 4 of us had a great Sunday Lunch here recently. Great...

We stayed at the Marquis of Lorne for one night when touring along the Dorset coast. The first thing to note is that to reach Nettlecombe requires a good 10 minute drive through proper country lanes from the bright lights of Bridport and it's probably a good idea to make a note of the directions provided on the Inn's website....

Spent a wonderful 3 nights here. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The food is out of this world and nothing is too much trouble. They even made us a roast Sunday evening that wasn't on the menu. The rooms are clean, tidy and comfortable with lovely home made biscuits and chocolates as well as...

We stayed for three nights at the Marquis of Lorne which is deep in the beautiful west dorset countryside. It's quiet and green and gorgeous. We loved the friendly welcome, the food was plentiful and excellent - so good we had dinner there twice during our stay, and the breakfast is hearty. They were brilliant about my gluten intolerance and...
