This is a restaurant with rooms above as they state themselves. A lovely old inn where they serve very good food at very reasonable prices. The wine list is a bit middle of the road but so are the prices, 18, 20, 25, 30 £ for a bottle of wine. Very cosy small bar, large lounge area. Do not expect...

A lovely old house with beautiful grounds and views. Good fine food and a thoughtful wine list. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly. The downstairs bar stays open late and there are some relaxing, large armchairs in the magnificent sitting room. All the decor is very old and impressive. Safe off road parking to the rear of...

Lovely and warm, comfortable beds, adequate bathroom - all one needs at a restaurant with rooms. Great welcome and particularly good food. Lovely restaurant with plenty of light. Varied menu and all cooked fresh. Good friendly service from what seemed to be a dedicated staff. Well done Castleman. You did us proud.

I'm a bit loathe to write this review. It's hard enough to get a table for Sunday lunch as it is! We've been going here for 18 years and it's still as wonderful as ever! Originally it was the Dower house to Chettle house. Now it's a country hotel with a fabulous restaurant. On arrival you're ushered into either the...

We have visited the Castleman twice in the last 6 weeks; firstly with some friends for an evening meal and secondly on Mothers Day as a group of 9 for lunch. On both occasions, we have been impressed by the comfort of the pre-meal lounges, the outstanding friendly service, and the wonderful food. A real treat at a very fair...

Stayed for a one night "get away from it all" break. A lovely old country house in a beautiful country setting. The house has real character. Focus is deservedly on the restaurant but the room we had was large, clean and comfortable with lovely views. All the staff were really friendly and helpful and provided a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The...

My daughter and I stayed here in October on a trip from the U.S. Chettle is a tiny, out of the way village with a peaceful old world charm. A very unique location, to be sure; but in the best of ways. It's places like this that make me so glad we planned our own trip. No packages, no tour...

We stayed here between Christmas and New Year, often eaten here, but never stayed. So glad we did, huge room, big bath room, I really liked the cast iron bath with ball and claw feet. Very nice to sip a glass of champagne in! Feels like you are staying in a private house with friends, they make you so welcome....

Negotiating the narrow lanes to get here is worth it.The feeling is one of being a house guest and we were made to feel very welcome. Our room was tired, quaint and enormous but with a lovely view over countryside. The shower was an experience in itself but those with a sense of proportion will take that in their stride for the...

Went as part of a party of 12 for a 10th wedding anniversary. Amazing place, both inside and out, more like a country house hotel than an inn. My room was huge and beautifully furnished, the food was outstanding and the staff were warm and friendly. Would definitely go again.
