Found this place in the Good Beer Guide and would not hesitate to recommend it. Location is good (on a square beside the river), beer excellent and the bar comfortable (with lovely open fire), Hadn't realised that the second night we were there was steak night; all the tables were accordingly fully booked, but the staff nevertheless managed to squeeze... This is one of our regular places to drink and eat. The staff are so friendly, the beer is always very good and there is a great selection of drinks. The food is always very good and good value for money. The whole pub is always clean. There are groups and band on Friday, Saturday and some Sundays when Long... More

Clean, tidy room with a homely feel. Great location with a lovely veiw and attentive staff. Tasty breakfast which was generously portioned. Only negative was that I felt it was a tad pricey considering the room and furniture was a bit worn/tired. Would recommend

We stayed for 2 nights and wanted to stay for a third but they were fully booked much to our disappointment! So friendly, beautiful breakfast, lovely pub with regular good quality entertainment. Clare and Graham marvellous hosts. Will definitely be going back. Thank you all.

Lovely gastro pub. Great menu, wonderful views, attentive service, good price and value . Booking needed as popular with tourists and locals! Upstairs veranda a joy in the sun. Loved the Prawns in garlic, and the bangers and mash. Have a summer country garden Gin cocktail to get your evening going off to a great start. Cheers!

Just popped in for a quick lunch but very nice indeed. Crab and lobster bisque tasty but sadly devoid of the scattering of fresh crab offered on top. Crack sandwich on brown bread was stellar and well with it for the price compared to other places Sat inside didn't go a bundle on the piped soul music

Visited the quay inn on the 15th July 2015 for an evening meal whilst on our family holiday, what can I say except AWFUL. My husband had the chilli which can only be described as mince and tomato, the nacho's it was serviced with had more flavour!! The kids chicken nuggets were very spicy and our youngest couldn't eat them.... More

Comfortable, homely bit shabby but pleasant welcome, friendly service, best liver and bacon with mustard mash and big portions for the chilly and hungry, once we have found a place with decent food and a welcoming feel we tend to go back even if the decor isn't ultra smart and we can see the odd cobweb.

“As a solo traveller far as I have experienced, all of the rooms are annexed in a converted waterfront warehouse close to the pub above an ice cream/tea room, accessed by a street front door way up a flight of stairs, all are on the first floor. All of the rooms are en suite, tastefully decorated and have comfortable beds. Although not overly large the rooms are well equipped [tea/coffee/hair drier] for short breaks and are not disturbed by music from the pub when bands are playing. WiFi may be available in the rooms but i have only used the free WiFi in the bar. All of the rooms overlook the small public car park with direct views across the river and meadows beyond [fabulous on a bright frosty morning] Several visitors have commented on parking difficulties, parking is free between 1800-0900 but charges apply outside these times, this public car park is also used as a market venue on Saturdays. Ample parking is available close by if spaces in front of The Quay are unavailable.”
