A group of us recently stayed for five nights and hosted a very successful event for 35 people in the restaurant. The Bear has been the brunt of some very discouraging reviews recently, but now has a new, young, energetic and creative landlady who is pulling out all the steps to re-built its reputation. The old building has many idiosyncrasies,...

People were nice, no problem there, but the rooms are old, dated, and poorly laid out - I was woken up several times in the night by drunken men waiting in line for the toilet. The internal doors are designed to slam shut no matter how gently they were opened, which is so violent that it actually moves the pictures...

I hadn't stayed here for around 30 years - a wedding then, and now a funeral. It didn't start well when the taxi driver looked at me as if to say 'are you serious about staying there?' ..and then telling me about how there had been a hotel inspection recently, and the previous owners had criticised for over charging for...

This hotel was disgusting, dirty and very badly run. ( despite the sterling efforts of Ben who tried hard to help us) There was dirty cups in room, old socks and i kid you not.. faeces on the bathroom door frame. The staff ... Apart from young Ben.. Were unhelpful and left us standing around while they finished chatting. We...

Stayed here for two nights. Turned up to find that it basically is a one man band place. Shown our room which was at the front of the hotel, above the bar. Ok we were not expecting too much, shower was in what can only be described as a cupboard, but it worked. Went out for the rest of the...

Clean linen, clean towels, happy, welcoming greeting & service. BIG breakfast. Cheap bar that attracts loud & questionable evening drinkers. Amazing old building. Nothing flash .. but great if you're on a budget. Give this place a go .. but be warned: there's VERY limited parking in Wareham! However: I'd use this place again.

Fisrtly I would say that before retiring my wife and I were Asst. Managers at a large Naval Hotel in Helensburh. Where do we start !! Well arriving on the Friday afternoon - for a 2 night stay - we were told by a lady "Cant get into the Computer". A Younger lady then appeared who was certainly not dressed...

We had a room at the front, very noisy up to 1am, the shower/toilet area was grubby, we refused to use the shower; no room in washbasin to wash hands/clean teeth etc, and the cold tap squirted everywhere; the staff had difficulty opening the room door for us, the key was so stiff, even they had to get help. However,...

Hi, Thank you for your review. All of the locks are booked in for a service at the end of the summer. We are unable to do this at such a busy period. I was unaware we had a problem with the tap so if you can tell me which room this was, I will get it fixed. We are...

This hotel was booked because it offered breakfast included in the price. How ever as soon as we arrived we were informed that the would not be any breakfast as the breakfast chef was off ill. So we were offered an evening meal instead which we were happy with. The food we had was very good and very large portions...

We as a family took over the Bear on the 8th October 2012 and have been busy refurbishing the rooms and generally giving the old place a facelift, but not losing its character in the process. So the new management team, Lyn, Allan, Beccie, Podge and Maz would like you to welcome you if you choose to come and stay with us. There are several beautiful beaches and interesting sights close by. Wareham is an old market town enclosed by the famous walls and hold many historical features. The boat trips from the quayside to Poole are very popular. We are also central to Dorchester, Poole, Weymouth, Swanage and Corfe Castle, to name but a few. ... more   less
