I have stayed in many basic bunkhouses in my 51 years and this was the worst. Dirty kitchen, we had to clean the floor and wash the plates before using them. When we arrived there was no working kettle. The whole place looked unloved and was not regularly maintained. There was a musty smell everywhere...the shower rooms had no heating,...

Great place, excellent service, would definitely recommend this to anyone going to Arran. Still being done up - singlehandedly by the owners - but most rooms are complete and have a beautiful sea view.

We hired the bunkhouse as friends were getting married in the sannox village hall , the bunkhouse was clean and the views were amazing, we spent 3 nights there and had a great time ! The owners were helpful and welcoming, yes the hill up is a bit of a killer on foot especially after a few drinks but that...

Dirty and cold. Seriously, just pay the extra £6pppn, go to Lochranza Hostel and save yourself the trauma. We were the only ones there to begin with which should probably have been a warning. For somewhere that claims to offer the "basic" but "a clean bed" they couldn't even achieve that- the sheets weren't even changed, nevermind washed for us...

Great facilities and the owner is delightful. Huge kitchen, cosy common room and lovely atmosphere. The owner was particularly helpful and generous when we found ourselves in the area, stranded with no accommodation due to another hostel having given away our beds! We are so grateful and couldnt believe our luck to have ended up in such a cosy spot...

A short, steep hike up the track is well rewarded with absolutely stunning views out over the water and hills. Don't be disheartened by the climb, it's worth it! First view of the building shows a ramshackle collection of rooms pieced together into a cosy, basic bothy-come-lodge. Sitting out on the hill to watch the sunset and moonrise and gathering...

Had a great time at the bunkhouse last week, huge kitchen area for cooking, the seating area is great, even had a chill out area for relaxing and having a wee pint, looking across the water, excellent sea views, the only downside to the bunkhouse was no washing or drying facilities to wash and dry clothes though the stay was...

9 of us stayed here for one night and it fell below our expectations. The hill that is described as a 500 yard challenge is fairly accurate. It is a challenge but there is only parking for 4/5 cars at the top, and for somewhere that can host more than 20 people, it can get quite busy at the top...

Stayed here for one night with 8 other lads and I can honestly say that it was the most disgusting accommodation I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. The hill you encounter upon arrival is an abomination, and if you have a car wider than a VW Polo, don't even attempt it. Once you manage to finally scale the hill...

This was a Uni trip and after a very long drive and without any warning our bus was unable to get up the extremely steep hill with us and the luggage, so after being already tired we then had to walk up the hill, which at any other point we would have happily climbed. On arriving at the top the...
