My partner and I stayed for one night as we posed through on our bikes. Great location close to lochranza ferry terminal. Facilities were good. We stayed in a two bunk room which we had to ourselves. Bathrooms were adequate. Great, well stocked kitchen. We played an extra £4.25 for a continental breakfast, which was great. Would have been nice...

Youth hostel was clean and beds comfortable. We slept in a 4-persons room (2bunk beds). Shared showers and toilets were tidy and kitchen functionable. Remember to by food from Brodick as there is no shop in Lochranza. We ate at the bar near harbour, also whisky distillery has a cafe but not open in the evening. Kitchen also have a...

Stayed overnight, first time in years. Been a regular to Arran and Lochranza hostel. Great place, great staff, and great people visiting. Just felt that it wasn't only the wifi that was struggling. Just don't know what it is any longer? .....and for sure the bunk bed might better be described as bunk cot for anyone 6 foot or over.

This place is amazing. As youth Hostels go, its exceptional. The kitchen is well stocked and brill to use. The lounge area is one you can relax in and the views from the hostel are stunning. The rooms are clean and well looked after. This place is stunning. Prepared to get up early then your morning coffee usually comes with...

Day 9 of the Lands End to John O'Groats cycle ride took us onto the beautiful Isle of Arran and a night at the Lochranza Youth Hostel - after a very long day cycling, a ferry crossing and a further 14 miles (including a big climb) to Lochranza. The rooms are modern and well laid out and the showers are...

Stayed here for one night with the Mrs (we had intended to stay at a B&B but could not get booked). We had no real expectations but were pleasantly surprised by the room which was pretty much hotel standard. The heating levels were a bit tricky to get right via the two heaters but we got there in the end....

Nicely located by the coast with a number of good walks starting nearby, both coastal and hilly. Also within walking distance to the arran distillery. Clean modern hostel with well equipped kitchen, big dining room and nice sitting areas.

This is a beautiful hostel in Lochranza very close to the distillery and castle. The area around is absolutely gorgeous. You have to pay for wifi, but I would simply recommend going to the hotel up the road (also the main bar) and using their wifi. You can pay for breakfast and use their large kitchen. There are buses about...

It's a beautiful building, nestled in a cozy part of the island with deer roaming around and ocean views from the dining area. The bathroom and kitchen are good quality. Don't expect too many services, so come prepared with your own food. They do sell local Arran beer at a good rate though.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As winner of the prestigious Green Tourism Business Goldstar Award 2011, Lochranza Youth Hostel is ranked as one of the UKs top ten greenest businesses. Lochranza Youth Hostel offers excellent budget and group accommodation but is also family friendly with private en-suite rooms, a spacious self-catering kitchen and laundry service available. Lochranza Youth Hostel is situated on the banks of Loch Ranza, opposite a 13th-century ruined castle in beautiful countryside. The youth hostel is also located on the Cock of Arran trail, which provides a beautifully scenic low level trek. The youth hostel garden is a great spot to watch wildlife, including red deer, red squirrel, grey seals, otters and golden eagles. Lochranza Youth Hostel benefits from a great bus connection and the bus stop is only 5 minutes walk away. Wi-Fi during your stay: We do our best to deliver a free Wi-Fi service but apologise that connectivity, particularly in our rural locations, can be intermittent due to the level of our current broadband provision along with high usage when the youth hostel is busy. Please be assured we are endeavouring to improve where we can. We thank you for your patience and understanding. ... more   less
