B&B smelled like an old folks home. Upon arrival was informed that they didn't open until 4pm. In this day and age i find that a rediculous concept. We were however allowed in to get ready for a wedding at another hotel down the road. The owner seemed pleasant however the cleanliness was not great and the decor is very... More

I deliberately booked Carlton Seamill as it sounded a bit different from what is now considered the normal in modern Hotels. The B&B is dog friendly and Avril has a small dog. The house is a long established building with the original bedrooms now used as a B&B. We were met at the door by Avril and taken to see... More

Grumpy old lady, smelly cluttered housr, used stuff everywhere. We left at the evening because couldn't take the smell anymore.she was rude first, then after one hour waiting on the beach at 7 pm after 250 miles drive she stayed in our room for 20 minutes to question us about where we came from and why....I have been in lots of... I don't know who really supposedly wrote the last few reviews, but they obviously have no sense of smell and have problems with their eyesight!!!! Rooms are dreadful, toilet is not fit for human's, smell is beyond disgusting throughout the establishment. I cannot say anymore just now. Ask health & safety about this "BB" before being silly enough to book.... More

Smell on arrival was disgusting as was the rather poor looking yappy dog. The bed was small and clearly sunken in the middle. The shared bathroom was not up to standards and needs upgrading. We stayed for one night whilst attending a wedding at nearby Seamill Hydro and paid £70 for one night. Wish we had just got the bus... More

We had an excellent week in this traditional, family Scottish home in a superb location, ideally placed for visiting golf and other tourist attractions. Our host provided a warm and friendly atmosphere to make us very welcome, with very good value for a double bedroom, bed and breakfast tariff for which we were able to select a time for breakfast... Some of the negative reviews in respect of the Carlton Seamill B&B are overly polarizing. Yes it's an old house, yes it's cluttered, and yes the hostess is quirky. At the same time, the hostess was warm and inviting and our room was clean and comfortable. So not sure what all the fuss is about.

If you like the feel of an old, relaxed Victorian house, you'll love this! The main bedroom has fantastic views looking across to Arran. Our hostess was very friendly and knowledgable about the history of the house and the locality which added to our enjoyment of our stay. A walk through the lovely rear garden takes you to a path... Recently stayed for my third visit. The most genuine warm and friendly welcome. I stayed in a gem of a room with a clear view of Arran out over the Clyde -gorgeous! I was asked what I wanted for breakfast and there was an abundance of fine food - everything I wanted and good conversation too! Thanks very much

The Carlton Seamill guest house has to be one of Scotland's hidden gems, and easily worth five stars! The house is beautifully elegant and spotlessly clean, the food is wonderful, and Avril Rennie—the owner and lifetime resident—is a most charming, erudite and helpful person. It took me a little while to find a taxi from the station, so it was... More
