I have seen this hostel before but never actually stayed here. I was pleasantly surprised, clean spacious and very central. I booked a single room and due to the hostel being almost empty was given a room at the front, very nice. Lounge and kitchen tidy and very cosy. Only thing was there is a coin meter for the bedroom...

great spot to explore the mainland and Hoy from. Smaller than Kirkwall and a quite different atmosphere. CoOp next door. Fuel station 1 minute. fire station and police vis a vis and RSPB next door other side. George - the non resident warden - keeps it very clean and tidy. Thanks for a very pleasant stay. If we come back...

We used the Hamnavoe as a bed and breakfast stop on our journey through the UK. The berth was comfortable, although small--which was to be expected. The cost was well worth it, it was cheaper than a hotel and we didn't have to wake up early for the ship to leave! When we boarded at night the Magnus Lounge was...

Stayed here October 2014 on our cycle tour of Scotland. The hostel is in a great location right on the sea front and with the most amazing views of Scapa Flow from the dining room and kitchen windows - we could have spent hours just looking as it was just a shear delight Hostel was warm, clean and comfortable and...

The place is clean and more than adequate with a warm and well prepared kitchen. George the owner knows the right places for spotting seals and some good roads for Bikers. There is also free parking at the back, and its very quiet.

Stayed a few nights here last September and was lucky enough to have a room to myself. Location is ideal, hostel immaculately clean and well-equipped. Listen to George and follow his advice - he knows his stuff. Can't wait to go back.

My reviews are always affected by things to see and do in the area, and how friendly the locals are, so it definitely gets a 'five' from me, but even without external influences, this hostel would be a five anyway. What more can you want? Clean sheets, plenty of hot water, great kitchen and lounge, decent fridges and washing machine/drier....

It´s an amazingly clean and well equipped hostel, cozy and warm, situated very near the ferry terminal and the city centre, with a supermarket very close to it. The owner is great, really friendly and helpful (Thanks again, George!!). The views over the port are priceless, especially at sunset, while having dinner in one of the most clean kitchens I´ve...

You'll find a well equipped hostel with absolutely friendly owner family here. We stayed three days at the beginning of our Orkney visit and one day at the end. The location is superb, the hostel is located near the harbour and bus station. The center of stromness is only 300-400m away, supermarket, car rental station as well as fuel station...
