I really enjoyed staying at Ayres Rock.Paul and Julie were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. As the campsite was quiet I used the clean and comfortable hostel facilities. The pod was heated and had a TV.

We really enjoyed our stay here and just wished it could have been longer. Affordable and comfortable for our family of 3, with lovely view of the sea, a sunny sitting room, and a well equipped kitchen that was shared with other travelers. The hosts were warm and friendly, and very helpful.

I don't even know where to start with praise on this review: We arrived on Sanday at about 5pm on tuesday 25th October - well out of tourist / camping season. We'd tried phoning the campsite just before we can get the ferry with no joy, so chanced our arm and just turned up. It was the only campsite we...

If you're looking for simple, unfussy hostel accomodation with the option of home cooked meals in the owners dining room or fending for yourself in the the well equipped kitchen (with a sea view) then this could be ideal for you. The rooms are small, simple, and heated. The bathroom and shower (fast with copious hot water) started the day...

I booked for a tent pitch but was given the use of a pod with electricity at no extra charge - Brilliant start! I was then allowed to use the hostel facilities which was even better - full cooking facilities shower seats etc etc. Turned out that my visit coincided with Chip Shop Day so I also sampled quite a...

Spent 3 days at Easter staying at the Ayre's Rock hostel on Sanday. Great island with some of the finest beaches I have seen in Scotland. Paul and Julie couldn't have been more helpful and the hostel is a perfect spot to base yourself for exploring the rest of the island. Having a morning coffee looking out over the bay...

I haven't stayed but this place is in a fantastic location and the fish and chips and to die for! If you're visiting Sanday and you're there on a Saturday you must go - you can eat your tea in one of the lovely camping pods and admire the fabulous view at the same time - perfection!

We arrived on Sanday at 1805 and knew the chippy closed at 1900 so we cycled as fast as we could into the headwind and arrived about 1845 to find Paul and Julie in the chipshop. We enquired if we could place an order and Paul told us no problem, go and put your tent up get yourselves organised I...

I spent 3 nights here in June during a cycle tour on Orkney. The weather was cold and windy but I was warm and cosy. The facilities are excellent and Paul and Julie are great hosts. It was great to be able to pop back to the hostel for a warm up. The community shop at Lady Village is well stocked...
