We stayed at No. 1 Broughton when we first visited Westray in 2014 so when relatives visited us and wanted to visit Westray as well it was an obvious choice of accommodation. Our rooms were lovely and the breakfast was superb. The only 'problem' was being woken to the sight of seals on the beach just outside so I had...

Stayed overnight whilst carrying out archaeological survey on Westray. Welcome refuge from the stormy weather. Comfortable and spotless warm rooms. Sumptuous breakfast with local produce and home made bread served in light and airy conservatory. The bedrooms and public areas are decorated with many interesting paintings and artworks.

Our room was at the top of the house large comfortable with a seperate bathroom. Breakfasts excellent with a choice offered the night before - the alternatives being salmon or a traditional Scottish breakfast. Views over Pierowall Bay and harbour. And seals rest and play on the rocks outside the house. And a very fine host.

A lovely bit quirky! We had a great overnight here last week. Very welcoming, interesting surroundings and lovely breakfast. The room was very comfortable with everything you need for a great stay - even a chocolate on the towels! The breakfast choice was excellent and really nicely cooked. The view, though stormy, was breathtaking. All in all a lovely place...

Stayed two nights here. Jerry, the host, seems to most of the work himself, when he isn't out working at some of his other pursuits. He is very welcoming and makes sure you have everything you need. The problem is dinner. The only place to eat is the hotel and because we flew in, we had no car. it is...

This was a very sentimental trip for me to Westray, searching out family history. I love this village and its warm, friendly folk. Jerry, host of No 1 Broughton is a fine example. My stay here was relaxing and quiet. The house has a commanding view of Pierowall Bay & its resident seals. It's also a short walk to the...

We stayed here for just over 12 hours due to the way we had planned our trip. Jerry was welcoming despite other guests arriving just before us and promptly made us dinner reservations. Breakfast was ample although you do need to order the evening before. The rooms were lovely, well equipped and very comfortable. Great location and we enjoyed our...

Staying 3 nights at No 1 Broughton was one of the highlights of our Orkney trip. Jerry made us so welcome. Lovely house, clean and comfortable, loved the decor and the sea view with the colony of seals. Excellent breakfast. Great base for exploring Westray, would highly recommend.

A very nice comfortable room with sea view. The owner, Jerry, is a great host, not intrusive but helpful when you need it and an interesting character, fully engaged with Westray island life. A really Generous breakfast with delights such as home made bread and hot smoked salmon! This is a super location for getting out into the island and...

We stayed here for 2 nights on a recent trip to Orkney and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The undoubted highlight was the presence of a colony of about 20 seals just metres from the house (and visible from my bed) - but we also had an extremely warm welcome from Jerry, breakfast was excellent (the local hot-smoked salmon was tremendous),...
