This B&B is a very homely one with a wonderful host by the name of Jenny. She has so much information to share and makes you feel right at home. Her property is very large and Jenny is happy for you to walk around it. Our room was quite basic but very clean and cosy.

Such a friendly welcome when we stayed self catering at The Shieling cabin. There was everything we needed fifteen minutes walk away in the village. Very special location. Miss it so much. We could have spent all day without seeing anyone. Lovely.

Stayed for two nights as part of a hiking trip. Jenny was a wonderful host and make us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The rooms are very nice and in the evening there is a beautiful fire to relax by with a glass of whisky! Will definitely be back.

If there's one place I certainly want to go back to it is here! Such a magic spot with great views over Loch Ness. Jenny made us feel very welcome and showed us around. The place is lovely and has many animals. Great for families.

A fantastic stay at a beautiful place. Jenny was a brilliant host and the location was unbelievable. Highly recommended stay, bird watching, Nessie spotting, walks and Jenny has row boats available to explore the loch. Breakfast was lovely and we sat in a bay window looking at Loch Ness feeling very chilled.

Only one thing, if you have a "buccet list". Visit Jenny on this beautiful place must be on top of the list. Quiet place, our only regrets, we should have stayed longer, for better getting to know Jenny. An amazing Lady on an amazing place. She is overloaded with stories and history.

The property is a half mile stretch of beautiful Loch Ness waterfront. We were invited to make ourselves at home meeting the family's highland ponies and cows. There are tables along the waterfront to enjoy a glass of wine watching the sunset on the loch. The room was comfortable and clean down to the detail of welcomed hot water bottles...

Excellent hostess and beautiful B&B right along Loch Ness. I couldn't have asked for anything more. Jenny is one of the most interesting woman I ever met. Up close and personal with Highland Cows, Horses and Pearl (her dog). Rooms were clean and showers worked well. Warm wood fire and conversation makes for an interesting evening. Loved this place!

We are still so impressed by our visit to the Old Pier House run by Jenny speaking 6 languagrs, the most remarkable woman we ever met. Just by chance we found this secret. We stayed at the main house, room no.1, with direct view to the Loch. The room was not big and simply, but practically furnished. Here are the...

Jenny McKenzie is an inspiration as a person and tireless hostess. Her B&B is right on Loch Ness and a 5 minute walk to town. The rooms are small but look out over the water. The breakfasts are full and fresh. Eggs made to order. We planned to stay one night but had to tear ourselves away after three. Jenny...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Old Pier House, a Highland farmhouse on the shores of Loch Ness, near the pretty village of Fort Augustus. We offer bed and breakfast in the main house open from April to October and self-catering facilities in our Loch Ness Log Cabins which are open all year round. This is a very private location on a peninsula in Loch Ness with stunning loch and mountain views yet only a ten minute walk or a two minute drive from the centre of the village. Located in the heart of the Highlands we are ideally situated as a central base for your Scottish touring holiday. We welcome walkers, cyclists, canoeists, horses and camping groups. There is plenty of parking and storage space. The 125 year old house with magnificent views has been extended to provide comfortable en-suite ground floor bedrooms, sitting rooms with log fires and a large bright breakfast room with superb views. Originally the Old Pier House was the end of the line for the West Highland Railway where big paddle steamers carried timber, cattle and people up the loch to Inverness. The old pier still remains and provides wonderful photo opportunities, a great picnic location and moorings for small boats. We have friendly Highland cattle and ponies that graze naturally on the heather hills, fields and surrounding woodlands. We speak fluent Gaelic, French, German, Italian and Spanish. ... more   less
