What a beautiful place to stay - right on the banks of Loch Ness. Jenny is a wonderful hostess - couldn't do enough for us. Gave us tips on where to eat in Fort Augustus. Accommodation was wonderful - hot drinks whenever you want them. Jenny lit the fire in the evening - such a cosy room to relax in....

Our visit was pretty much the same as a lot of people's experience... Below standard When we arrived at our cabin, it was clearly not cleaned between guests, the dust was thick on all surfaces and dirt all under wicker furniture (gross) If that wasn't bad enough the bathroom had dirt everywhere on any visible surface, shower curtain covered in...

The property is so beautiful that I don't have words to describe, it is situated right at Loch Ness with silence being the only noise around. We stayed at a chalet sufficient for two, it was amazing and the breakfast was very good. The property is in some acres and staying there is an experience by itself with green all...

After being in several B&B's in Scotland, this one seemed a bit basic for the price we paid. There are strange rules such as not being able to eat chewing gum (???). And we had the feeling of being treated as children by a grumpy teacher. The location is great. Breakfast was a bit below average.

Stayed 5 nights in a cabin with our dog, loved every minute, so relaxing and quiet. Jenny was very welcoming and generous with her hospitality, she gave good advice on getting around and the local butcher who is well worth a visit. Fort Augustus is a nice busy village watching the boat up and down the locks, nice places to...

By chance we stumbled upon this secluded bnb that also rents out cabins. We stayed in the house where Jenny (the owner) gave us a warm welcome. The surrounding land is beautiful to walk over and you can even walk back to town in 10min for a bite to eat. The house has a spacious sitting area and Jenny is...

We booked this holiday directly with Jenny, the owner, and she recommended the Shieling Cabin. We wanted a private and semi secluded cabin in nice surroundings and nothing could have been better. When we arrived Jenny greeted us and took us to our cabin (one of three in the hotel's spacious grounds). The views from the cabin were spectacular. The...

I 've been there two times, the first time we were just lucky and saw the sign so we got to a dark private road and we found a great looking house, it was after the sun has set and it was a little creepy just seeing a big house in the middle of nowhere (you can't see the town...

The house is located in a fantastic location right on Loch Ness on a large farm. Plenty of animals to see including Highland Cattle, horses, birds and "Pearly" the golden Labrador. Hot breakfast cooked to order with bagpipes music playing while you wait. Now, let's talk about Jenny, the owner: We've decided to go with quirky. A lovely lady who...

We camped at Old Pier House after seeing the sign from the water and pulling our kayak up on the beach and enquiring about camping. Jenny was so accomodating and welcoming to us and the breakfast was very tasty in the morning. The location is just fantastic and its an easy walk into town for the pubs and dinner. We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Old Pier House, a Highland farmhouse on the shores of Loch Ness, near the pretty village of Fort Augustus. We offer bed and breakfast in the main house open from April to October and self-catering facilities in our Loch Ness Log Cabins which are open all year round. This is a very private location on a peninsula in Loch Ness with stunning loch and mountain views yet only a ten minute walk or a two minute drive from the centre of the village. Located in the heart of the Highlands we are ideally situated as a central base for your Scottish touring holiday. We welcome walkers, cyclists, canoeists, horses and camping groups. There is plenty of parking and storage space. The 125 year old house with magnificent views has been extended to provide comfortable en-suite ground floor bedrooms, sitting rooms with log fires and a large bright breakfast room with superb views. Originally the Old Pier House was the end of the line for the West Highland Railway where big paddle steamers carried timber, cattle and people up the loch to Inverness. The old pier still remains and provides wonderful photo opportunities, a great picnic location and moorings for small boats. We have friendly Highland cattle and ponies that graze naturally on the heather hills, fields and surrounding woodlands. We speak fluent Gaelic, French, German, Italian and Spanish. ... more   less
