I was solo hiking the Great Glen Way - this was one of my favorite B&Bs, and I feel so enriched to have spent a little time with Jenny MacKenzie. The room was comfortable but not fussy, but I was much taken with the location on the peninsula jutting into the loch, and the menagerie of Highland cattle and ponies...

Ginny MacKenzie opens up her home to you right on the Loch Ness. Private but easy walk to Fort Augustus makes it a perfect place to see the whole area. Ginny has canoes you can use, horses you can pet and feed and even Highland Cattle you can pet and get close to for those special photos. What wonderful place...

We booked the family room for 4 adults, 2 kids and 1 toddler. Very clean and comfortable. Fantastic views, and great service. It comes with a small kitchen. Can park 2 cars right outside our room. Highly recommended!

A group of ten of us kayaking the Great Glen, a week ago, phoned ahead and got accommodation for a night right on the shore of Loch Ness. A fantastic welcome, very comfortable accommodation and at a good price. We were even transported to a local pub in the evening. A great place to stay, marvellous views and a great...

We actually stayed at one of the cabins next to the bed and breakfast. We loved the location - beautiful to wake up to Loch Ness every morning. The cabin was a little rustic but it was exactly what we were expecting so we didn't have any surprises. The location was fabulous. We walked into the town of Fort Augustus...

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in August this year. We were made to feel very welcome by Jenny who owns the place. It's beautifully located right on Loch Ness and only a 10 minute walk into the main part of Fort Augustus for the pubs and shops. Good price. Lovely stay. Will hopefully visit again one...

Had a wonderful two night stay, fantastic location, overall everything was perfect except on the last morning. Unsure whether the young gentleman in question was staff or guest staying as saw him out and about quite alot. We were sat eating our breakfast and could hear alot of cursing coming from a back kitchen area. Then Jenny the host was...

My daughter (25) and I (62) were on a week-long cycling holiday along the Great Glen. We stayed at Old Pier House on 28August 2014. Total price was £75. The landlady is Jenny, and she is a character. We had a wonderful, relaxing time chatting to her about this and that. The location of Old Pier House cannot be beaten...

The B&B is very nicely located close to loch ness, in fact you can practice any water sports from there. Jenny (the host) was very kind while accomodating us. Very complete breakfast. If i had say any regular comment i´d have to say the house is pretty old, however the beds are new and confortable.

We stayed in the Old Pier House for two nights, and really enjoyed the setting. It is set in large grounds on the shore of Loch Ness, what would you want more? The owner and her grandson were really nice and helpful. It was a bit like staying on a farm, which we really liked. Because of the size of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Old Pier House, a Highland farmhouse on the shores of Loch Ness, near the pretty village of Fort Augustus. We offer bed and breakfast in the main house open from April to October and self-catering facilities in our Loch Ness Log Cabins which are open all year round. This is a very private location on a peninsula in Loch Ness with stunning loch and mountain views yet only a ten minute walk or a two minute drive from the centre of the village. Located in the heart of the Highlands we are ideally situated as a central base for your Scottish touring holiday. We welcome walkers, cyclists, canoeists, horses and camping groups. There is plenty of parking and storage space. The 125 year old house with magnificent views has been extended to provide comfortable en-suite ground floor bedrooms, sitting rooms with log fires and a large bright breakfast room with superb views. Originally the Old Pier House was the end of the line for the West Highland Railway where big paddle steamers carried timber, cattle and people up the loch to Inverness. The old pier still remains and provides wonderful photo opportunities, a great picnic location and moorings for small boats. We have friendly Highland cattle and ponies that graze naturally on the heather hills, fields and surrounding woodlands. We speak fluent Gaelic, French, German, Italian and Spanish. ... more   less
