We went with Shearings and I must say, for the amount of money we pay, it was excellent value. Our driver Bob was brilliant, nothing is ever too much for him. Food was adequate with the amount of money we pay and more as the breakfast was excellent (take a look at my photos). Dining room staff, Joana, was extremely... More

My husband and I have just returned from a four night midweek coach holiday booked through Shearings, staying at the Bay Highland Hotel in Strathpeffer. My husband is recovering from a recent stroke and we chose Shearings because of the support, care and respect they give to their customers, both with the travel and accommodation. The hotel was warm, well... More

We were on a shearings trip, a group of 8 ranging in ages from 19 to 69. The hotel was lovely. Rooms nicely decorated. Staff friendly and helpful. The room we were in had a massive shower, 2 single beds, bedside cabinets and lamps, 2 chairs and a table, a dressing table, wardrobe, TV and tea and coffee facilities. There... More

Went to the Highland with Shearings Coaches, very well organised, a enjoyable trip if a bit lengthy journey. the Hotel was comfortable but a bit dated over 100 years old. our room looked like that it was recently re-furbished. breakfast and dinner were of excellent quality, our waitress was a delight, lovely smile all the time.

Could not agree more with your review title. As you will have seen the public lounges and Large restaurant have been refurbished as well as many of our bedrooms over the past three years. Another 20 are scheduled for early 2017. I am pleased you enjoyed the food and the staff looked after you while you were here. Hope to... More

This was a coach holiday with Shearings taken with two friends, something we had not done before but will certainly be doing again in the future. The hotel was great, it is not modern but full of charm. We arrived at 8 15 p.m. and dinner was waiting for us. The food though not big portions was sufficient, with a... More

The Highland Hotel is a gem. Some people don't like the thought of coach trips but they should give this one a try. A nice drive up to Strathpeffer, a well run hotel with efficient staff so what's not to like? Colin the Shearings driver was excellent and we noticed he was helpful to a few elderly passengers so a... More

Thank you for a lovely review. Strathpeffer is a beautiful villiage and the Highland, an excellent base to explore the area. The coach tours take the stress of driving out of the holiday and as you say the drivers will always look after you. See you again soon ! kind regards Donald MacLeod Deputy Manager More

I'm not the best writer of reviews but just wanted to share my thoughts on the Highland Hotel... being a regular visitor to Scotland due to having family ties, I was fortunate enough to have timed my recent visit with that of a friend who was staying at this wonderful hotel. I didn't actually stay overnight here, but saw enough... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Peacefully set in its own grounds with lovely views over the colourful village square, this chateau style hotel’s traditional features have been carefully retained to strike just the right Highland note. A warm welcoming feeling comes as much from the friendly staff as from the fine wood panelled public rooms which have been carefully preserved. Strathpeffer itself is just steps away from the hotel and is renowned as an attractive Highland spa resort with fabulous Victorian architecture. Be sure to enjoy the scenic views of the village below from the open veranda. The massive peak of Ben Wyvis is the backdrop to this charming village. It’s a perfect base from which to explore Scotland’s dramatic Northern Highlands – mountainous countryside, sparkling streams, waterfalls and golden shores. ... more   less
