On arrival, the hotel appeared on the outside to be a bit run-down. However the inside was an improvement and a glance at the visitors book showed that everybody had nothing but good things to say about their stay. Our room (No 8) was at the very top of the hotel. There was no lift and we were asked if...

Booked for 1 x night for business requirements. Room 3 was the 'one'. Good points.....TV, breakfast and the bed. Not so good.......no en-suite,the carpet, the noise of the water when someone upstairs used something that had to drain water away, the crack in the kettle, no mug to make a cuppa (maybe health and safety because of the kettle?), the...

We booked into the royal hotel using a gifts for two voucher. The journey took us five hours and we were looking forward to the stay. We found the hotel easily, although we were concerned with the big rusting bars on the windows on the side. The reception wasn't particularly welcoming and we were more or less chucked some keys...

This is the first post I have made on Trip Advisor. I have done so to prevent others making the same mistake we made last week. Sadly “Terrible” is the lowest rating available on Trip Advisor, a lower category is needed for this hotel. I booked two double / twin rooms with Breakfast for two nights for last week. We...

Unfortunatly I cannot give a review of the accomodation as the owner decided I didnt want to stay and gave my room away! On asking why I was told that the people there had came in late the night before and had decided to stay on at my expense. I was told they had looked for alternative hotels but everywhere...

Have just returned from a two night stay at The Royal whilst visiting the British Golf Open. We arrived to check in at 3.00pm to be told that our room wasn't ready because the previous occupants had left all their belongings in the room, locked it and taken the key. We were given a key to a small bedroom without an...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A warm welcome awaits you at this family run hotel with full license, situated in residential area close to Girvan town centre. Five of our seven bedrooms have en suite facilities, and most rooms have views over the town to the Firth of Clyde and Ailsa Craig, known locally as, 'Paddy's Milestane'. The Royal Hotel is located on the West Coast of Scotland in an area of outstanding and largely unspoiled natural beauty. A five-minute walk from our door will bring you to the charming and picturesque Girvan harbour and miles of clean, sandy shore. Ayrshire is the birthplace of the Open Championship, with courses at Troon, Turnberry, and the site of the first British Open at Prestwick. It's also the birthplace of Scotland's most famous poet, Robert Burns and of Scottish kings and heroes like Robert the Bruce and - so legend has it - of William Wallace. ... more   less
