We stayed two nights at this beautiful guest house with our wonderful hosts Karen and Iain and it comes highly recommended. It is located 10mins from Stornoway and centrally located to many of the spectacular drives around Lewis and some good restaurants in Stornoway. This is a stunningly designed home and the two guest rooms are large with walk- in wardrobes and large bathrooms. Breakfast was fantastic, offering both continental and full Scottish. Iain’s homemade sausages were a real treat, but the best part of our stay was the wonderful hospitality we experienced. They are a beautiful couple who did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable.

A beautiful home in a beautiful location, Caroline and Iain couldn’t have been more attentive or helpful. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and the breakfast was plentiful and extremely tasty. Hearty recommend.

This accommodation is *five star* all the way. We had a very warm welcome, from Karen on arrival, after a very trying journey. I was very impressed by the modern house, everything was spacious and spotlessly clean. The bedroom was, as advertised, with a balcony overlooking the sea and the airport. (The airport only handles small passenger planes so there was no intrusion of noise. But proved interesting, watching the aircraft landing and taking off.) The bedroom was large and comfortable, with a large double bed. The room had everything a traveller needs, including a good selection of hot drinks, with an electric kettle. The bathroom was also very spacious, with a spacious shower unit, with toiletries, a toilet and wash hand basin. There was no bath. The breakfast room was also very spacious and the food selection was very good and the food I had, was cooked beautifully by Ian. The ingredients were locally sourced, and of the highest quality and tasted very good, (I would recommend the full Scottish breakfast). The TV had all of the Free View Channels including radio, and the Wi-Fi speed was good and reliable, and worked out on the balcony. There being only two guest rooms parking is not a problem, and the location of the house is only two or three minutes drive from the town. This Guest House is exceptional and the owners could not be more helpful in offering advice as to what to see, or where to go. The two night stay was certainly a five star experience, and being a Grumpy Old man, I had no cause, in this stay, to be grumpy.

Difficult to write another review that doesn't repeat what others have said - it really is a lovely home and beautifully furnished. Our large room had a balcony and as has been mentioned the house is at the end of the runway at the airport - great if you're an Avgeek!! Great fun to watch the planes land and take off. Forget about a diet when you come here as the breakfast is great! Iain and Karen are wonderful cooks and hosts. Would definitely recommend and return here!

Where do I start? This place is truly wonderful. The hosts, really friendly, good sense of humor and informative, the room - wow, soooo lush and with an amazing view, the breakfast - really delicious, the location - very unusual with the airport but fun to watch the planes taking off and landing, though the room faces the sea. We hope to come back next year and actually land on that airport and stay at Solas.
