I stayed here for one night on business and when there booked for a further two nights the following week. My first stay was great, the newly refurbished room was bright and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very tasty, the monkfish and scallop dish was delicious. The service was friendly, efficient and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely and exactly...

The common parts of this hotel are beautiful, modern and freshly decorated. The breakfast was delicious. The staff are friendly. All this is let down by the scruffy tatty and old fashioned bedrooms. The bedrooms are badly in need of a refurbishment. Pretty disgraceful and not cheap either.

My son had the opportunity for emergency telecom repairs over Mew Year,so I came up with him (just so father and son could catch up in the evenings.! One such catch up was here at The Royal where the steaks were to die for and as We travel from Lancashire the Black Pudding in filo pastry was gorgeous. Washed down...

As a native of the island I know the hotel's café bar, HS1, very well and can wholeheartedly recommend it for friendly service and very tasty food. As for the hotel accommodation I have somewhat mixed feelings. Our welcome was warm, with the delicious breakfast served by genuinely warm and smiley staff, big thumbs up there! Of the rooms: on...

Stayed here for one Saturday night on our Island hopping trip as we were getting the ferry back to the mainland the next day. When we checked in the staff asked us if we were eating with them that night as we would need to book there and then as it gets very busy at the weekend. We decided we...

The Royal Hotel Stornaway looks out over a picturesque marina and has a clear view of Lews Castle. Situated in Stornaway's town centre, we were close to amenities and local attractions. The hotel and restaurant staff were engaging and always pleased to be of assistance. The rooms were delightful and beds comfortable, a perfect place to rest after an active...

Nice clean rooms, public areas appear recently renovated. However no lounge area - a problem on a wet Sunday when everything is shut. Restaurant service painfully slow at times - the 2 staff on for breakfast had no chance of coping with a busy spell. Food quality good. Drinks at bar expensive

We were stuck for accommodation in Stornoway, other options having fallen through, and having spent one night in a different place - not reviewed - in this town. But we got a lucky cancellation for two nights and were really happy with the outcome. Friendly, helpful staff at reception, a large and comfortable double room; well-located in the centre of...
