Amidst turquoise sea, white sand, dramatic mountains and shimmering lochs, Uig Lodge is set in one of the most spectacular positions in Scotland, overlooking the magnificent Uig Bay on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis. A traditional Hebridean fishing lodge with 9 bedrooms, working smokehouse, golf course, salmon and trout fishing within walking distance. We also have a new restaurant with stunning views over the bay. The restaurant is a short walk away: see ‘Uig Sands Restaurant’.

The setting is amazing, the house has just the right sort of luxury and Eric is a superstar. We were there for four nights last week travelling with elderly parents and it couldn't have been better. The rooms are not flashy but are supremely comfortable and thought has gone into the details that make such a difference. However it was the house party feel that made the difference with everyoone sharing their experinces in the sitting room and the dining room at the end of the day. There's no pressure to do this but the house, settings and satff make it natural. Eric cooks and looks after the guests and nothing is too much trouble for him andor the people who work with him. The food is great. Ask for his quick cake recipe. A wondeful experience and we will go back as soon as possible.

Loved this place, a commanding quirky hunting lodge. The owner took the time to show us around and ensured all the heating was working and we were comfortable before leaving us to it. We stayed off season so had the entire lodge to ourselves. Small touches appreciated. Breakfast was a little basic but understandable as we were the only guests, real shame we missed the restaurant being open as it was off season. Room was large and comfortable with the deepest bath I have ever seen! Suggest bringing own supplies, there is a shop nearby but suspect it has the basics only. The owner kindly allowed us full use of the kitchen and fridge to store our food and prepare our food. I felt like lord of the manor for our two day trip. There is much to explore nearby and beautiful drives even in the driving wind and rain. Would not hesitate to recommend and would love to come back. Sure the place has a crack here and there and a little damp, but that all adds to the charm.

Our extended family group rented Uig Lodge for the last week of August and it was the most wonderful experience. The Lodge itself is perfect - breathtaking views of the white sand bay from almost every room, very comfortable beds, and the most delicious food cooked every day by amazing Eric. Fresh local shellfish and smoked salmon among some of the highlights. Dickon was always available with helpful tips and gave some very good fishing tuition as did James the fishing guide. We saw stags and eagles by the house and my son caught two salmon. Do visit Uig Sands while you are there - the restaurant next door - delicious food, very helpful staff and a setting second to none. I keep wishing we were back there and hope to return one day to magical Uig.

Very disappointing. Paid £160 for 1 room, 2 people B&B, but got none of the extras you might normally expect at this price: there was just a hand towel and bath towel each, no bathrobes, flowers, chocolates or fruit, and just 3 teabags for the two of us. Decor rather tired. Bathroom had no window and we only found the switch for the extractor fan just before we checked out. Bed was OK, but held up in the middle by a pile of books. No welcome information pack so we didn't know the time of breakfast, or the wifi code etc. No menu at breakfast so when asked what we'd like we had to guess what was available - our full Scottish was fine, but we then saw other guests tucking into smoked salmon, kippers, kedgeree.... It is a great view if you get a sea-facing room. But you can get the same view from the road outside, or just drive down to the beach.

Loved the look of the place from photos but was still blown away when we arrived (and not just by the fresh winds). It's wonderfully lived-in, like someone's own home. Smart bathrooms, slightly shabby bedrooms but who cares when it's this friendly and has those views. Great food, although we nipped to the new restaurant next door on the first night, which was stunning, and so nice to get back from a day's walk to find a pot of tea on the table with fruit cake or scones. These touches make it perfect. Thanks to Eric and everyone for making it such a great stay - we will definitely be back.
