The location of this SYHA hostel is lovely - don't miss a trip to the pier and look for the Edward V11 post box in the wall. However, the hostel is, in spite of repainting and some other cosmetic renovation, still in the last century. The staff (hardworking I know) need training on how not to confuse non-English speakers. And...

The building was a bit cold and austere and could do with a bit of a refit. The communal rooms and bedrooms were dimly lit which did not make them inviting. The one big problem was the paper thin walls and the bedroom doors which had a closing system that made them crash with an almighty thud all day and...

We stayed at Broadford for 2 nights and it was really a lovely little place to relax. The kitchen is very well equipped and clean. The room we had was great for us travelling as a group of three. The staff were very helpful and gladly answered any questions we had. It is very close to town and you can...

Excellent place to stay. Travelled alone for a week and had the single room. Fantastic value for money. Separate male and female dorms. Not ideal of you are travelling with your girlfriend. The best part is the location, with a fantastic view. The rooms could have been a bit bigger, but fit the price, it's great. Good sized kitchen and...

I was gone during the days, so for me it wasn't a problem, but you are not allowed to go into your room during the day, which is weird, because you pay for your room and bed for the entire day & night. The wi-fi costs 1 pound per 20 min. There are no latters on the bed, so if...

When we arrived the lady at reception was very friendly and helpful. She told us we could save money by joining the SYHA. The 4 person shared room was perfectly clean and tidy except there was a chocolate wrapper under one of the beds but what bother is that? The kitchen facilities were excellent: plenty of equipment and storage space...

We stayed here as part of a tour group to Skye, having the place exclusively booked out for our party. We were in a family room of four on the quiet second floor. There was a shower next to our room, Room 15, which was excellent, better than some five-star hotels I have been in. The hostel faces onto the...

I stayed here for one night, I had a single room which was good. It was clean enough. I wouldn't say the breakfast was worth the extra I paid. The only other minor complaint would be that all the doors in the building seemed to have very strong closing mechanisms, so would slam quite often and be heard on other...

I stayed in a four bedroom female dorm room. I've travelled in many hostels, and this one is good value for money. Clean facilities and friendly staff - can't ask for anything more. When I was there I overheard one visitor having issues with the wifi, but I didn't need it while I was there, so it wasn't a problem...

This hostel is in a very pretty location, but as mentioned previously, the bedrooms are the size of train compartments (or a boat cabin), paper thin walls, nowhere to put anything, and basic bunk beds. Stayed in a 'twin' room (one bunk-bed and tiny room) for approx £22 each - can't remember exactly. Very disappointing. The guy on the desk...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Broadford Youth Hostel is located close to the main road on the Isle of Skye. The youth hostel has an unrivalled coastal setting with views over Broadford Bay, while offering a central location with good public transport connections with amenities such as shops and restaurants all within walking distance. This makes Broadford Youth Hostel an ideal base for exploring the Island. The youth hostel offers excellent budget accommodation for individuals and groups. It is well equipped for all hostellers with a bike shed, laundry and drying room, small shop on site, internet access and Wi-Fi available. The fantastic self-catering kitchen and communal areas offer beautiful views over Broadford Bay and our helpful staff have lots of local information. Wi-Fi during your stay: We do our best to deliver a free Wi-Fi service but apologise that connectivity, particularly in our rural locations, can be intermittent due to the level of our current broadband provision along with high usage when the youth hostel is busy. Please be assured we are endeavouring to improve where we can. We thank you for your patience and understanding. ... more   less
