Detailed Reviews
Fabulous quiet location, we've just returned from a 4 night stay in Room 1, the comfy kingsize bed looked tiny in the room and there was also plenty of room in the large en-suite. The furniture and fittings were far superior to anywhere we've stayed before. Lance and Emma are lovely friendly people, and full of local knowledge. Lance's cooked breakfast are a perfect start to the day - we didn't need lunch!! Their covid regulations and hygiene are excellent and well adhered to. Obviously due to covid they didn't enter our room however if we needed anything we only had to ask. It was 10 minute walk to Portree, which was ideal for us staying out of the congestion and parking , if we visit Skye again we'll be stopping here

We had a very modern, clean and spacious room.
The breakfasts were good and made to order.
Lance and Emma were extremely helpful and friendly.
The restaurants in town were struggling with staffing issues and either not open or fully booked. We brought takeout back to the B&B and they provided plates, silverware, etc in the breakfast room for us.

My stay at Orchard House was perfect. Emma greeted warmly by name on arrival and chatted easily while showing me around. The room was warm, beautifully decorated and very spacious. I especially enjoyed the large tub and all the small touches including local products in the bathroom and fresh milk in the mini fridge.
The property is nice and quiet for a great nights rest and only a 15 minute walk into the centre of Portree. Keep in mind it is up hill on the way back but the walk is manageable.
Highly recommend staying with Lance and Emma at the Orchard House.

Orchard House is simply stunning. From the warm greeting by Hosts Emma and Lance, to the magnificent room (massive king bed + full bathroom with a tub deep enough to swim in) this place is perfection. Added bonus the views from the rooms to the distant mountains are spectacular.
Breakfast each morning in the shared dining room, with plenty of travel tips on how to get the most out of your stay.
It’s a short walk into town mostly downhill, Uber back at the end of the evening is cheap (leave the car at the BnB there is very little parking in Portree in summer.
If you’re looking for a beautiful place to rest your weary legs, in a quiet space just out of town, this is THE place to stay.

Spacious and super neat accommodations! Our room was big with a large en suite bathroom, exactly like shown on the photos. Everything was pristine: new paint (the owner is very keen on repainting the place every winter to keep it immaculate) and our bed was very comfortable. The owners were very friendly and full of info! We added breakfast to our tab (to be purchased separately) and it was fabulous! We had so much we took to bagging our croissants, ham and cheese for lunch, which saved us trips to the grocery store (not too many restaurants on our long hikes on the island). The location is perfect (in Portree) and there is ample space to park. Even though the place is not obvious to find (tiny little road with potholes), the gps took us right there! If and when we return to Skye, we will definitely book this place again!

Room Tip: Potholes to reach the place. Drive carefully. Love the USB ports to charge phones in our room.

We had a wonderful stay at the Orchard House. The rooms were spacious and clean and we enjoyed all of the natural light from the skylights. The shower in our room was the best shower we had while staying in Scotland! Breakfast was filling (highly recommend Lance’s porridge) and the location of the B&B was good. Not too far from town and easily walkable. We grabbed sandwiches from Relish before traveling around the Trotternish loop to see all the sites. Highly recommend making dinner reservations prior to arriving as there are staff shortages, etc so not all restaurants are open everyday and the demand for dinner is high (many people were standing outside of restaurants waiting to get in). All in all, the people were so friendly everywhere we went and we had such a good time! Lastly, if you can, visit Fairy Glen and get there by 9:00 am. It’s a magical place!

We had the downstairs room which was doing and comfortable. The host Lance was welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was served 7.00 to 8.30 a little early for holidays but it was freshly made and tasty. The boys is well sited a 6to 7 minute walk from the town centre.Overall a very nice experience.

Stayed for three nights. Welcoming hosts in this family run B&B. Our room was very spacious with comfortable king size bed and large ensuite which had side filling bath and separate shower. French windows gave great light and views. The added mini fridge in the room was great. Breakfast selected by menu card provided the night before with good variety to choose from. Parking to front and side of house. Walking distance from the town.

Our host Lance was perfectly engaging while having an overall “hands off” approach to this intimate experience of a B&B. We were able to conveniently walk into town with a small ten minute walk, so the location was superb. We also were able to crack our windows open to hear lambs during the day, and a steady stream of water rolling by at night. I would highly recommend this place to any small groups or solo travelers.
