The Skye Inn enjoys a reputation for impeccable cleanliness and a cozy atmosphere that many guests find welcoming. While the location is generally appreciated for its proximity to local attractions, concerns have been raised about poor lighting at night. Guest experiences suggest the rooms are clean and comfortable, though some find them to be on the smaller side. Despite praise for the attentive staff and service, opinions on value diverge, with criticisms focusing on perceived overpricing and food quality.

The location of the inn is perfect for strolling around Portree while staying in a quieter area. The Inn is also in the perfect location to explore Skye and definitely had the most restaurants and pubs around that were within walking distance.
The staff were so friendly and worked really hard to make sure you had the best possible stay. Breakfast was fantastic as it was large and kept you fuelled for the day. You could also get dinner at the Inn after a long day which was much appreciated and reasonably priced for the quantity of food.
I would absolutely recommend the Skye Inn and hope to return next year for some more exploring.

We stayed here on our way back from Isle of Harris initially just to break our journey home. Parking was a bit of a squeeze but the chap on reception was really friendly and gave us all the relevant information about room, meal times and the latest covid guidance. Room was a good size and had all the amenities you would expect. We had an evening meal in the Great Room accompanied by our dog, the food was excellent and the staff were really chatty and attentive.
We had a great nights sleep and went down for a nice breakfast which was freshly cooked and the dog really enjoyed her breakfast sausage as well, A lovely little touch.
Really enjoyed our stay at the Skye inn, loved how dog friendly the hotel is and the wonderful staff. It is definitely on our list of places to visit when we are next back on Skye.

We only stayed at the Skye inn for one night but wish we could have stayed longer. We were welcomed by the lovely Blossom and Katy who were both really informative about the local area and Covid guidelines within the hotel. Our room was spotless, very comfortable beds and the shower was very spacious. The rooms also included locally made soaps and moisturiser which was a nice touch. In the morning we had a full scottish breakfast cooked by Rachel and Michael and it was delightful. All of the staff were so attentive and helpful. We were served by the lovely Tasja and Emily and Tim also came over for a chat. I also have to mention Alex and Duncan as they were both incredibly helpful and couldn't do enough to for us. Overall, I would highly recommend the Skye Inn for comfort and the really friendly staff. An excellent stay

We booked this hotel because they allowed dog.
They were friendly, particularly the breakfast lady. I didn’t want the sausage for breakfast, so they very kindly cooked it for the dog, which was a nice touch.
The hotel is newly refurbished and very stylish. The beds are large and comfortable. It did lack a few minor things which they will hopefully rectify with time.
Although the hotel is only a short walk from the town, it is down a residential road and has no outlook, for the amount of money I would expect it to be in a better location with some sort of holiday view.

We booked this hotel for a few days away as a mid-winter break, this hotel appealed because it welcomes dogs. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the centre of Portree, tucked away in a very quiet spot. The room was very clean, quite small, but adequate. and the bed was very comfortable. It was nicely furnished with the usual teas etc. The bathroom was really nice with the added touch of local sea kelp shampoo/body wash and body lotions. There was also a gift of local soap to take away. The restaurant offers a limited menu but caters for all tastes. The staff were the highlight of the stay. They were all quite young but very efficient and probably the friendliest staff I've come across in a hotel, without being intrusive. To say they are dog friendly is an understatement. Dogs were welcome in all areas of the hotel including the restaurant. Dog bowls were provided, along with a dog bed if required. Sausages were cooked for the dogs at breakfast, and by special request for our boxer, Heidi, black pudding. The staff made a fuss of the dogs without over-exciting them. As an extra touch, special dog ginger biscuits were left in the room. I would definitely go back to this hotel and would recommend it, especially for dog owners. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF. I would say that dog owners should respect the privilege of being able to keep their dogs with them by making sure they are kept under control and not allowed to bark.

The location was great just a few mins walk from the town centre. The area is very quiet and set back from the main road. The staff were excellent and very friendly. They went over and above to make my mums birthday special, they placed a beautiful bouquet of flowers in her room with a lovely card.

The Skye Inn is very accommodating to guests with dogs, allowing them to stay at the property and also allowed them in the restaurant. The food and service at the bar / restaurant was great!

The rooms are very clean, tidy and nicely decorated and bathrooms are really modern. Within our group there was 4 adults and a small yorkie dog. We were given rooms right next to each other and the hotel also programmed the keys so that we could access each other’s rooms which was great!

The on-site no reserve parking is a huge benefit as a car is needed for visiting surrounding attractions.

The only thing and it’s nothing major at all and it’s the limited choice of evening meal options, the menu is the same every night and offers two / three choices on starters, mains and desserts. There is no kids menu offered either. But the options you do have to choose from are beautifully presented and taste amazing!

Stayed one night in a dog-friendly room which was accessed directly from the car park. The room was spotlessly clean with a new modern shower room. We had to leave early to catch a ferry so the hotel offered to serve our breakfast 15 minutes early. The dog was given a sausage in a bowl too! Lovely friendly staff. The hotel is situated out of town in a quiet location, only issue we had was the guest car park which was full on arrival, however we managed to make a space behind a coach at the front of the hotel. Room rate was expensive for the standard of the hotel but we accept this is the norm after months of closure and given the new hygiene measures that they have to be put in place.

We stayed at the Skye in on the 23rd and 24th of October 2020, during Covid restrictions. When we arrived we were a bit wary, and questioned our choice, however my wife went in to reception to see if we could check in early, and came out to the car with a smile on her face and a thumbs up. We had a room in the outer block and it was absolutely perfect for both of us and our Cockapoo Bonnie.

The room was lovely and must have been renovated or redecorated in recent times. Had everything we needed including a comfy bed.

The hotel's location was a 5 to 10 minute walk from the centre of Portree which was great as we didn't need to worry about parking.

This is obviously a very friendly, dog friendly hotel and the staff were disappointed if you didn't bring your dog in to the dining room, where at breakfast everyone's dog was surprised to get a sausage !!

The covid restrictions meant that we could only eat in the hotel (sadly no alcoholic drinks), and there was a limited menu, but we had no issue with the limited menu or the quality of the food. However I'd have been happy with a burger !!

The biggest positive for the hotel is it's staff who were all brilliant, friendly, helpful, keen to give a great experience and all should be commended. Stevie who had previously been working as a tour guide had put together a map with all the sites to visit in a logical flow and used his knowledge and experience to help all visitors. We found it really helpful and unfortunately many of the visitor attractions were closed because of covid, it was really helpful to us.

When we are back on Sky we will look no further than the Skye Inn, thanks for your friendship and hospitality.

Bryan, Annie and Bonnie

A pretty weird motel on the outskirts of Portree. Rooms have obviously been refurbed which is nice and no doubt contributes to the high prices being charged. Waited 10 mins in reception for someone to appear so we could check in and the same weird experience at dinner...took a seat at tables that aren't set and wait 10 mins for a waiter to appear for what ended up being a pretty average meal.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we really appreciate your feedback. We regret to hear that on this occasion we fell short of our usual high standards. Across all of the UK the hospitality industry has been affected by severe staff shortages and we have unfortunately have been no exception. Whilst we are working as hard as we can to ensure that this does not negatively affect our guests experience, we would like to apologize that we were not able to provide the service and atmosphere that we strive to achieve. We hope that that you enjoyed your stay on Skye and had a pleasant onward journey.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. I will list the negative first and although not major I feel need to be mentioned. The room walls are thin so you can hear everyone around even in the toilet. The extraction fan didn't work in our toilet/shower room so got misted up easy and did smell a bit damp. There is only one bin and this is in the bathroom so we ended up using a carrier bag as a bin in the room. The TV picture has a habit of loosing signal. The top of the headboard was dusty which isn't good especially as rooms are advertised as covid clean.
Now the good points. The hotel is located just outside the village at the end of a private road so is quiet at night outside. It's only a 10 minute walk to Portree and not too hilly if you walk around the football pitch. The staff are friendly and helpful. There are plenty of staff to serve food at breakfast and dinner time which I was impressed with as some places are suffering with service levels. Check in is manned in the afternoon from 4pm until about 9pm. If you need help There is a number to call. You can book evening meals and the are £25 for 2 courses or £30 for 3. The food Is good but I would ask that they change at least 1 item everyday as its limited. Breakfast is as much as you can eat and is made to order.

Thank-you for your review and very useful feedback which we will use to improve; we are glad you enjoyed most aspects of your stay. We apologise that we were unable to immediately rectifiy the issue with the extractor fan in your bathroom, with most maintenance issues we can address them quickly and are sorry that on this occasion we couldn't. We're sorry you experienced issues with the TV, signal is very occasionally affected by weather, they are smart TV's which offer alternative options when this is the case. Our housekeeping team have been made aware of your comment regarding the headboard to ensure there is no corner of a room overlooked in future. We are happy to hear you enjoyed our meals and service from our friendly team. We hope you had a great onward trip and hope to welcome you back again!
