High Beech has just two double rooms with King sized beds and shower room en-suites. Whilst being only a few minutes walk from the centre of Portree, it stands on its own overlooking the Harbour or "Pier". Guests can leave the car at night (car parking provided) and dine in the many sea food and Scottish restaurants available in the town. A good place to explore Skye during the day and return to a few comforts and a choice of eating establishments in Portree in the evening. Guest are welcome to use the dining room which has spectacular views towards the Black Rock and Raasay

Jon and Pauline were not in when we arrived but they had left a note for us to go in and to tell us we were in room 2. We did and as we entered room 2 we were taken away by the view from our room window out over the bay below. The room itself was very comfortable, both the room and the ensuite shower room were impeccably clean and tastefully decorated with everything we needed to hand.
Jon and Pauline arrived a few minutes after our arrival and had a warm and friendly welcome for us.
Jon did a great job of informing us of areas of interest and Pauline’s cooked breakfasts were superb; freshly cooked and piping hot.
We stayed for two nights and thought the room rate was excellent value.

Hosts: Jonathan and Pauline were amazingly hospitable hosts. They would constantly check in on you to make sure you have everything you needed. Jonathan took the effort to engage us with a bit of chatter every morning. We feel super welcomed.

Location: The view from the property was quite spectacular (see attached picture). Location is excellent as well, minutes walk away town centre and its restaurants.

Breakfast: Breakfast is a lavish spread every morning. I would have the full Scottish breakfast while my wife would have the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Toasts, fresh pots of coffee and tea are readily prepared for you once you turn up for breakfast. Large selection of cereals and jams available too.

Parking:
Parking is not an issue, they have a rather sizeable driveway which can accomplish multiple vehicles.

Room:
Room is not large but more than enough for two pax. Furniture are of high quality and rather quaint, giving you a very cosy feeling.

Jonathan and Pauline are the perfect hosts! Our room was immaculate and beautifully furnished. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was lovely quality. Breakfast was delicious and prepared with obvious care. Visitors can be confident that careful consideration has been given to their safety in terms of Covid-19, Jonathan and Pauline have gone above and beyond minimum safety standards after investing in a professional fogging machine to sanitise the room between guests. The location is perfect with stunning views in all directions. I’d recommend a stay here without hesitation!

We stayed at the HBH in April 2022. We arrived by bus and hauled our two heavy roller cases up a steep but short hill, and we were rewarded with 4 nights at the most beautiful spot. The house sits high above the harbor with amazing views, a short distance to town and connecting paths to other interesting places. Jonathan and Pauline were the nicest people, with great recommendations on places to eat and hike. Breakfast was great - often more than we could handle. It was just a wonderful stay, with the craziest weather, but we loved every minute of it. There is no where else we would stay if visiting Portree again. The bed was very comfortable and quiet.

We had room #2 which has an amazing view. Some travelers may prefer room #1 because the picture window for #2 is right next to the entry path. We would definitely go for this room again however, There is a full shade that works effortlessly up and down, so privacy when you want it is easily obtained. We kept the shade up most of the time because the view is fantastic!

I cant say enough how lucky we were to have stayed at this superb place! Unbeatable views, great location and great service.

The service is just so excellent that we wanted to stay longer but we had to move to our next destination.

Jonathan was so knowledgeable about everything, from parking spots, to different tourist sites, his advice was so helpful to us!
Surely the service these guys provide exceeds the value for the money you pay!

The breakfast location is just so nice with great views!
The breakfast is just enough and well prepared and can definitely take you throughout the day without having to need lunch even with the tough day's activities like hikes and so on.
This place is very clean and Covid-19 sensitive with all measures and standards in place.

We felt very welcome and most especially felt at home with the friendly managers and personalised service.
They have different accommodations so you can check them out!

I highly recommend it! Thank you very much Jonathan and Pauline

We are 2 couples who stayed with Jon & Pauline for 2 nights at the end of October. They are absolutely fantastic hosts, recommending places for us to visit and restaurants to try. The breakfast was first class and the beds were really comfortable. The rooms were immaculately kept and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending their home. Location is fantastic with lovely views over the harbour and the house is ideally situated with a few minutes walk of Portree town centre. If you ever need a B&B on the Isle of Skye, this is the place to stay.

This B&B is ideally situated in Portree with great view of the water and harbour from the front entrance and breakfast room. Lovey room. Very welcoming and friendly hosts. Breakfast was fantastic. Less than 5 mins walk up the hill from the town centre. Parking available off the street. Thanks for making our time on Skye so memorable.

If you want to stay in lodging in which your hosts really care about your experiences and who will help you make the most of your trip, stay at High Beech House! As everyone mentions, the view of the bay from the HBH is stunning, especially as the sun rises over Loch Portree. Breakfast is excellent , with an option for a full Scottish breakfast if desired which will carry you all of the way until dinner if desired. Both Jonathan and Pauline are very helpful with information that helped us make the most of our visit during a once-in-13-year snow fall and ice buildup that affected how we approached our island travel. Jonathan (and family!) were instrumental in helping us to get on our way when the freak ice/snow buildup threatened to maroon us at their B&B for the foreseeable future.

High Beech Guest House is a perfect base for a visit to the Isle of Skye. We were fortunate to have great weather during our 3-day stay. High Beech is conveniently located close to restaurants and shopping as well as the harbour. If you’re on the island and want to explore (which you definitely should!) then a car is a must. We did the Trotternish Peninsula Loop drive around the island which was so beautiful. Lots to stop and see. High Beech has parking. We had a great Scottish breakfast each morning, and our hosts were lovely. They had many great suggestions for things to do around the island. We needed to do laundry and they suggested a local lady who does same day or 24-hour laundry service. This saved us taking a few hours out of our limited holiday time. We stayed in room 2 which has a gorgeous view of the bay. I highly recommend High Beech!

Fabulous! Our hosts Jon and Pauline did everything they could do make our stay wonderful. The breakfasts were delicious (full Scottish), the view from the breakfast room stunning - over the colored houses of Portree. Our room was perfect with a view of the harbor and a lovely deer theme throughout. Jon is very knowledgeable about the history of the area. This is an utterly charming bed and breakfast which is also very reasonably priced.
