Stayed here last night 2 adults 2 small dogs . Angela our host was very welcoming to us showed us to our room which was a large bright airy room with two double beds in it . Showed us where the shower room was and other Wc as these facilities are shared with other guest . Angela made is a welcome cup of tea and offered advice on where to go for our evening meal . In morning we were offered various cereals and fresh fruits and yoghurts followed by a bacon eggs and mushrooms also toast served . Very comfortable stay here

We've stayed for a single night with a short notice, after our initial B&B (we won't tell who) forgot about our reservation. Angela welcomed us warmly, and although there are no cooking facilities for guests on the premises, she allowed us to have our sandwich-dinner at her kitchen, even supplied us with tea and butter, and we had a very nice chat.
The bed was very comfortable and the room and the bathroom very clean.
Next morning, she asked about our wishes for breakfast, all of which were fulfilled, and it was delicious.
She also was very helpful in advising us about activities on Skye.

I am really stuck on how to review Harris Cottage. Angela herself is very nice with a quiet clever sense of humor. She is a good hostess, makes sure you have what you need and want and does not intrude otherwise. She will provide you with a key so you can come and go as you please.
The house itself is a bit run down. There is nothing very "cottage" about it although the view over the harbor is fantastic. The rooms are old fashioned decor - faded floral sheets and bedding., floral carpet, etc. Electric heaters but I really saw no problem with that - they were modern without exposed heating elements. Lots of comforters, quilts, and knit blankets. Bathroom is old but functional. It was not comfortable though with odds and end shampoos out on the windowsill etc.
The "odor" some have mentioned is not moldy but is a permeating smell of clean - like Fairy dish washing liquid soap or Ivory soap. Hard to describe. I think my main disappointment was that I felt too much like I was in her house - her family photos, her miniature knick knacks, her newspaper piles, her empty boxes laying around etc. Really, nothing wrong with it, just I was expecting a "cottage" style stay with the usual B&B setting. It was as if I was renting a bedroom in someone's house as an unexpected guest and they had no time to pick up a few things to make room.
Angela is very sweet but this situation did not suit us well.

Angela is fantastic. What a wonderful hostess. I arrived early and enjoyed the amazing views of the harbour with her cat. When Angela arrived, shortbread and tea were the first order, then a car ride to the Fairy Glen, and later a car ride up the peninsula for some fish and chips. While its true that the house is faded, it's glory lies in Angela's care for its cleanliness and in her hospitality. If you are used to posh uppity places, this is not for you. If you want to get to know a lovely person, see Skye from the eyes of a local, this is the place.

Although hostess was welcoming and friendly cottage definitely requires upgrading and I was glad I was staying only one night. The view from the bedroom window was amazing and the sheets were clean, however I would not return to Harris Cottage.

Arrived quite late following a long motorcycle ride and received a homely welcome. Room was spotlessy clean and great value for money. Shared bathroom but not a problem and view of harbour amazing. Can tripadvisor remove the two negative reviews as they seem baseless and I suspect by the language used written by the same person

Angela is such a splendid host and the beautiful view of the pier from the cottage is breathtaking. She was kind to introduce to us the wonderful waterfall(which is a secret attraction):). IBreakfast was great too and the clean and warm room was simply fantastic. Thank you Angela . I was travelling with my girlfriend and Isle of Skye was our last venue after a long 3 weeks tour in europe.Harris Cottage is a place I would highly recommend for anyone to stay when they are in Isle of Skye.Looking forward to return there for my anniversary Angela!

We arranged to stay with Angela and very much looked forward to a typical Scottish B&B that we had become used to. Her home smells bad. It has an odor from the 1950s that needs to go with the carpeting, draperies, furnishings, etc. Our room was heated by a plug-in electric heater, the entire night! These devises are meant for the short term and we were afraid the home was going to burn down! The sheets were really old and stale as was the duvet and blankets. We shared a bathroom with 2 other rooms and that was OK except the sharing of a bathroom in an old home is not a quiet ordeal. The food served was fine for a Kindergarten, but not acceptable for a B&B. What a huge let down...and in such a beautiful location, it could be so much better!

I looked at the pictures for this listing on the Skye B&B website and asked myself - is this for real? Surely such a beautiful location is not possible at such a modest price (only 20 pounds/person on our trip). It turns out that it IS for real - in fact no pictures can do justice to the breathtaking view from the back yard or the fairy-tale terrain of the Trotternish Peninsula. If you are visiting Skye for the scenery, this is where you want to be.

Staying at Harris Cottage is like visiting your favorite country cousin. This isn't a fancy house that has been renovated with separate facilities for guests: it is the house that Angela grew up in. You ramble through the modest living room on the way to your bedroom and share the 1-1/2 baths with everybody staying in the house. There are no locks on the bedroom doors. If you want to watch the sunset from the back yard you just grab a chair and take it outside. Sometimes stray sheep come galloping through the yard.

Angela welcomes everybody like a long-lost family member and introduces her guests to each other. However, she is very respectful of privacy and never intrusive. She is also an excellent cook, and happily makes each breakfast to order. If you choose, she will also serve a home-cooked evening meal for an additional charge. (Try her onion-almond soup for a delicately delicious first course).

Drawbacks? No Internet access and only one electric outlet in the room (important to people who have electronics to recharge every night). The room could definitely have been improved by blackout shades. Due to the unusually fine weather during our trip we were surprised by brilliant morning sunshine blasting right through the closed drapes at about 4 in the morning (Skye is way far north!). For some people the informal nature of the accommodations might not be to their taste. For us this was part of the charm.

All in all, the drawbacks were very small compared to the pleasures of our stay, so for me this is still a strong 5-rating. Thanks, Angela!

Room Tip: Our room had 2 double beds, but hostess is willing to rent it out as a twin.
