We stayed here for one night in room 12, which was a small twin, dressed in Harris tweed. Lovely cosy room, nice tray of tea/coffee and Scottish biscuits. Bathroom was immaculate, with big fluffy towels and lovely Scottish toiletries, but found the shower tricky, couldn`t get a lot of pressure and didn`t get a very hot shower, although the sink tap was really hot? We had dinner here, which was delicious. We had been asked at booking if we had dietary requirements, so myself being vegetarian was well looked after. Breakfast was a marvellous spread of fruits, fresh juice and a cooked Scottish breakfast with homemade oatcakes. Katie is a very professional owner/chef.

Had the most incredible stay here over the bank holiday weekend. Katie is such a kind and caring host and the food is some of the best I have ever had. Nothing is ever a problem and the views from the house are spectacular. Katie and her staff are incredibly helpful and take such care with everything. Cannot recommend this place enough, it is a very special place to stay. Thank you Katie and team!

We booked this room via email due to travelling from overseas and should've taken the poor communication as a sign to look elsewhere. After confirming we had 4 nights we got an email from Katie saying she had sold the room to someone else for the second night but she could still take us the 1st, 3rd, and 4th nights. What?! What did she think we would be doing on the 2nd night! We ended up staying just 2 nights with her. We initially arrived in the mid afternoon, and like other reviews, found no one around. There's no phone service and the wi-fi is password locked so no way to contact anyone while there. We left and returned in the evening. On arrival Katie came out to greet us. Unfortunately we were apparently too slow to respond to her while getting out of the car and she started yelling at us to ask if we spoke english at all. The room was a fine size but old and dark. Our room was over the kitchen and both mornings we were woken early by the sound of the kitchen equipment. No TV. Hot water in the shower was not reliable. I suspect Katie runs the B&B purely so she can play chef. The breakfast was alright. Very small portion for scrambled eggs. No cereals. The dinner extremely pricey. The Hotel Hebrides bar ended up being our top choice for dinner. Would avoid.

I booked a meal for our family of 6, 3 months prior to arrival on the Isle of Harris. My wife and I were travelling with our 2 adult daughters and spouses. We were looking forward to this dinner as one of our "special" meals during our two week tour of Scotland. I communicated a couple of times with the owner Katie by email, confirming our reservation and indicating food intolerances as requested by her. We showed up at the agreed upon date and time and the place was totally empty. Someone saw us arrive and came out to see why we were there. Turns out it was owner/chef Katie. When I told her we had arrived for our dinner reservation, she became rude and aggressive. Katie said the restaurant was closed that night as she had no bookings for either meals or accommodation, immediately accusing us of being the source of the mixup. I had to show her two emails she had sent me before she acknowledged that the mistake was hers. She told me where I could perhaps get a meal on the island but did not volunteer to call on my behalf. Getting a last minute table for 6 on the Isle of Harris in the middle of tourist season is not an easy task. I asked her to call the Harris Restaurant for us and she begrudgingly did this which I think enabled us to eat that night. I see there are other reviews on Tripadvisor where mixups have occurred. I wouldn't advise people not to eat here as I have no idea what the food is like. I would advise customers to confirm their reservation close to their arrival date. My advice to Katie is, " You are in the service industry. People have options where to spend their money. Mistakes happen and you shouldn't assume from the start that the customer is at fault. You probably also need to review your system to keep track of reservations." Had Katie been more apologetic from the start or even sent me a followup email, I would have likely softened this review.

The hotel is a short taxi ride from the ferry at Tarbert. It is very remote so don’t expect other services and facilities nearby. The decor of the hotel is good and provides a warm welcome. The room is very tastefully decorated and has a modern ‘Scottish’ theme. We ate in the restaurant, and it is of a very high standard. The price of everything quoted is without VAT which adds another 20% to your bill.
