On site there is a reception and small grocery shop and amenity block with toilets, showers, launderette and fabulous indoor kitchen. The park offers plenty of space and great access to the outdoors including the neighboring Almondell and Calderwood country park and the Pentland Hills Regional Park. You can easily access the Union Canal towpath which is a flat cycle route all the way into Edinburgh. Ideal for visiting Edinburgh by tram from the local park and ride, Royal Highland Showground, International Climbing Arena, Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies.

Nestled in a serene setting that strikes a perfect balance between nature and city attractions, Linwater Caravan Park garners praise for its outstanding amenities, including a modern toilet/shower block and a well-equipped campers' kitchen. Guests have called out the spacious and well-appointed rooms, especially the family rooms with both bath and shower. The park's cleanliness is a high point, with facilities being consistently spotless and well-maintained.
While most find the value reasonable, some have experienced disappointments. Nonetheless, the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere contribute to a comfortable stay.

We had a lovely 3 night stay here during the Covid Pandemic. I have to say that the shared bathroom facilities were spotless, they had Covid guidelines in place, one way systems in reception and a ticket for the bathrooms. Well planned and well thought out. Our designated tent area was the furthest from the bathrooms so a quick sprint for a wee wee in the middle of the night but this didn't spoil the holiday. Our external plug was not long enough to reach the electric supply and they kindly gave us one, this is something others should be mindful of when visiting, the electric is a central point at least 3m away from the pitches. The location itself is very accessible and great for site seeing and exploring. We found it easy to get out and about. The time we were there a lot of things were shut and we found getting food a bit difficult but we didnt starve and the fun of camping is to make do, this is no reflection on the camp site, in general be advised to be prepared and bring plenty with you. We will be going again in the future as we liked that it was small and not overfull. Thank you for a pleasant holiday.

Hello Helendaz Thank you for taking the time to review the site and for your feedback. I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Your feedback is really helpful. For guests reading this who may be worried about the distance from their pitch to electric hookups, please be assured that we have a supply of cable extensions available for free so that you can always get access to the hookup. We are acutely aware of the set up at some of our grass electric pitches and are planning on moving the hookups next to the pitches in the future. Thanks again for your custom and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Best Wishes Katie

We booked this site as it was one of the closest to us from Durham that had availability ( we were supposed to be in Majorca but changed this to next year ) lovely little site very well maintained. I must mention the duty warden and her husband who live on site in their van , the lady was lovely and helpful, she engaged with our 2 kids and didn’t bat an eyelid at our dog who we haven’t had for long and is reactive to other dogs. They have a great shop on site which is reasonably priced and stock all your essentials from breakfast packs to little toys for the kids etc, we stopped in a timber tent which was nice and warm and had plenty space under the beds for storage , the only thing I would say to improve would be to maybe have a couple of hooks where you can hang coats or wet towels. The toilet and shower block is regularly cleaned and the showers aren’t button ones so you can have a decent shower without faffing on pressing button every 30 seconds! We loved the chicken that came and visited us every morning and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the play park. There are plenty walks to go on, when you arrive you are given an info leaflet which details where you can go and how to get there. Great base for exploring we would defo go back as we only got a couple of trips out , we went to the kelpies and Helix park which is great if you have kids. Thanks for a lovely stay the kids didn’t want to go home!!

The site is well located and easy found from the main arterial routes around western Edinburgh. As noted by others, the site does sit near the flight path for Edinburgh airport, so aircraft were frequently noted landing or departing. However, the sound of the aircraft soon became normal for the site and not detrimental to the experience.
Arriving onto the site we were greeted by the warden and the booking into the site process was swiftly completed. We visited after the recent reopening of the site following the Covid-19 pandemic. Some site guidelines were in situ. They were sensible and nothing too onerous, with a simple system for using the toilet block. The toilet block was clean, with efficient showers. An onsite shop was open, although we had no cause to use it. The other obvious facilities were onsite, grey water, fresh water, EHU points, etc. The site pitches were clearly demarcated and navigable. The site also benefited from being flat, and appeared to have good drainage. We had two visits to this site, both for one night, as it was used as a stopping off point heading into and returning from northern Scotland. Our second night saw Scotland experience heavy rain and thunderstorms. The site itself appeared to cope well, with no evidence of flooding, etc. The road approaching the campsite was flooded, although passible with care.
Overall, a good campsite, and certainly one that we’d use again. Although we didn’t use all the facilities available, they appeared more than adequate.

We stayed three nights in July in one of the Lodges, This was our first opportunity to visit Scotland to meet our brand new first grandchild, born during lockdown. We were a bit nervous about travelling again, as Scotland was just relaxing Lockdown restrictions and we were the first guests in the lodge. We were very reassured about the safety and cleanliness of the accommodation. It was just the perfect place for us! Any problems we had, such as wifi connection were very quickly seen to and sorted. Understandable that there might be a few teething problems as we all get used to the new normal, but the owners and staff of Linwater obviously put so much love, care and attention into this facility.

From the moment I went to check in it was clear that customer service and experience was of the highest priority at this site.
The lady on reception could not have been more helpful and accommodating if she had tried, especially when I pitched my tent in the wrong place.... oooops.
The site is well laid out and well maintained and as someone sleeping in a tent, grass length is important. At Linwater it was ideal, long enough to add a little softness to the ground, but not long enough to make your feet soaking wet first thing in the morning.
The facilities were very good and immaculately clean.
The little on site shop has enough basics to be very useful, they even had a few screw on gas canisters available when mine started to play up.
A really nice, well presented quiet site that I would be more than happy to return to. Not cheap by comparison to some of the other sites on my trip, but a fair price considering the location, five minutes from the Forth road bridge.

Friendly staff, great facilities. We only stayed for one night, but would've easily stayed another few nights if time had been on our side. The electric pitches also had water points with them, which was really handy.
Would happily stay there again.

Made a 4 night reservation here to visit Edinburgh for the Tattoo.
Check in is very efficient and the information provided is excellent if you have not stayed before including an information leaflet.
Pitch sizes are generous and we had a T5 Camper, awning and one other vehicle easily on the pitch with room to set up a table and chairs.
Facilities are clean and tidy with washing up equipment provided.
Showers ang toilet areas are clean and water is hot at all times of the day and available 24hrs.
Excellent indoor kitchen and rest area.
Site shop and office has excellent opening hours.
Although on the flight path of the airport this did not impact on our stay.
We used the nearby bus stop to travel in and out of Edinburgh each day on the X27. This takes about 30mins and runs regularly.
If coming back in the dark I would suggest packing a torch or reflective band to negotiate the 15min walk along the lane.
On the night of the tattoo we got a cab back from the City which cost £40 (negotiated with the driver)
All in all a great site offering lots of positives.
Thanks to all the staff.
See you again soon.

Just back from a 4 night stay at Linwater with friends, we stayed in static caravan (B), the caravan was very clean with plenty of room and the park was very clean and very peaceful, Livingston is just a short drive (10 minutes) where there are plenty of supermarkets, a shopping centre and restaurants, we used the ingliston park and ride again just a short drive (10 minutes) very easy way to get to and from Edinburgh city centre. The staff are really nice and friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again.

Hello - yes Ingliston Park and Ride has space for motorhomes to park.
Katie
In addition to the river you can coarse fish on the Union canal and there are several trout fisheries including Morton Fishery a short drive away. Permits for the river courtesy of West Lothian angling association are available for purchase in reception and cover the river Almond as it flows through much of West Lothian.
Fire pits are not allowed but BBQs are permitted. This is in line with the local council licence agreement
Not really, yes you hear them but they were not a disturbance. perhaps the first one in the morning
