Beautiful, welcoming place after a big stunning drive. Not much daylight left when we arrived so didn’t fully appreciate till next morning. Wished we had another day to stay. Views of Loch and mountains from everywhere, room, restaurant, car park. Ground floor rooms have a balcony with a gate so you can walk the short distance to the loch from your bedroom. Food and staff great.
Great room with a view ,lots of space for the kids .Amazing swimming pool with a jacuzzi ,best place to relax .Very relaxing atmosphere with great customer service that goes over and beyond to make sure you have a great time .Food …what is left to say ,to die for !Mussels are a must and prawns and fish are amazing !Thanks for handling our last minute reservation and making our experience an ever lasting memory !
Lovely. Three star hotel, clean and well-decorated, wee bit tired in just a few places but still puts most other hotels I've stayed in to shame. Staff were mostly adorable - friendly, good senses of humour, made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. Madeleine (apologies if mis-spelled) and Jen were superb - remembered the names of every single guest. One younger member of staff annoyed us while on night reception duty by just switching off the music in the lounge only twenty mins or so after calling last orders a full hour before last orders were called the previous night. Maybe she couldn't be bothered serving pesky guests and wanted us to wander off to bed so she could relax. When I mentioned this to her, she muttered something about "last orders" but had no good answer when I pointed out there had been more people than just us getting served over an hour later the previous evening. This was a serious shame, because she marred what was otherwise one of the single most enjoyable short hotel stays I can ever remember having. Oh, and also one of the most dog-friendly hotels I've ever stayed at, too. Our dog was spoiled even more than we were. (Joking but only just). We'll be back there for future stays, no question about that. Lovely, refreshing, surprise to stay somewhere we felt genuinely welcomed and looked after (except for the abrupt shutting off of the music while we were still finishing our last drinks). Doug and Maaike.…
Returned after 6 years and it’s still as good. We stayed for one night in our way to Oban. The hotel has changed a fair bit since we last stayed with the addition of beach houses which look excellent l. For us the thing that really makes this hotel is the view, the food and the staff. The eve meal and the breakfast the next day were outstanding. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
Good points- fish courses were excellent, most staff friendly, beds are pretty comfortable and the views are great. Bad points- breakfast bain marie pretty poor and hardly any continental choice, desserts not great and rooms could do with a bit of attention. Especially the bathrooms( toilet brush needed replacing). Sleep would have been good, apart from a couple sitting in their balcony until 3am! Can't blame the staff for that, but expected a quiet stay.
We had dinner in the Captain's Lounge as we had our dog with us. Very dog friendly, and although we did not book, we were seated happily. The food and drinks were served very quickly and the portions were huge. The vegan options were minimal (one option really) but the meat eaters were very happy.
Staying nearby to the Holly Tree Hotel, booked for breakfast. That was a mistake. At £26 for the two of us including coffee, the buffet food was cold and the plates stone cold, the sausages were cheap and more befitting a motorway service area cafe, and to cap it all the three staff were more interested in chatting to themselves than popping over to us in what was a virtually empty 'restaurant'. It's a great shame as the waters-edge hotel probably has one of the best to die-for views in the Highlands. These things are fixable, and it's the management that needs a wake-up call.
Myself and Husband have just returned from an overnight stay, the hotel was wonderful the views stunning staff were extremely friendly and delightful food was excellent our room was clean with wonderful views. Can't wait to return thank you our stay was wonderful
Hi I would just like to start by saying from the off set this booking and stay has been horrible the address given on the booking had taken me and my family to the wrong location. Finally after getting there, meeting staff at reception I got the keys to the beach house. Then after driving down the road and passed the building sight, there were work tools, machinery, and work materials lying around that didn’t seem safe 9pm. After passing that we got to the beach house, after struggling to open the door I was met with what looks to me as a commercial washing bag. After getting in and getting my 9 month old settled, I went for ice from the fridge dispenser with a lot of banging from it no ice opened the freezer door and was greeted by 1.5/2kg of ice all over the floor. I cleaned the ice up with one of your towels provided to try and dry the floor (could not find a mop but did find a open electrical box showing wires whilst looking for a mop) and after clearing the water and I’ve the towel was black with dirt. The hot tub steps were not secured, they slid away from me which resulted in me nearly falling. The hot tub cover been ripped and broken leaving sharp corners and after trying to make the best of it going up to master bedroom with sea view we found dirty bedding hairs in the bedding as well then found a dead fly wrapped in the towel my partner was in tears of the thought of sleeping in the bed. The next morning I tried making breakfast to find dirty cutlery with food still on them. I tried raising my concerns with staff in morning was welcomed with hostility and rudeness, the management refused to speak to me was told he would call at 1pm to which I never received. I have since tried calling the hotel and I’ve been told twice from staff that he won’t talk to me and that I’ve just to email, I got the phone slammed down on me and I’ve been trying to call back numerous times with no answer. I have contacted Booking.com this is very unprofessional from your hotel and lodges.…
Fawlty Towers in an nutshell. Such an amazing setting with beautiful rooms and breathtaking views but.... Don't eat there (unless your standard Is 'ping microwave meals' and you have never cooked) and whatever you do don't complain. When you do you are told other guests like it so you will have to pay for it. No manager available during our 2 day visit. Just truly dreadful customer service. Also our room key also opened the front door????, which must mean everyone's does???. The reception is also not manned between 10pm and 7am......hmmmm. Very worrying. Book at your peril.
