This is now a 3 bedroom holiday cottage not a B & B. As it has been converted from a B and B the rooms are very spacious and are all en-suite which is great. The hosts are very friendly and live on the farm on which the property is situated. There were some great little touches such as some home baked cakes on entry and free tea and coffee. The cottage is rural, and the view of Loch Lomond is breath-taking especially at sunrise. The price for the size of the cottage and location is very good. The only slight downside is that the cottage is a little dated and showing its age a bit. So overall I would highly recommend this cottage. If the owners maybe refurb at some point, it would get 5 stars from me.
The cycle up the hill was more than worth it to get to this wonderful B and B- Anne was generous and helpful. The breakfast was the best you could ask for , with an abundance of fresh fish, fruit and porridge and homemade bread.
Our second visit to Shantron after a visit in 2012. Once again we found Anne to be an incredible hostess, providing a well prepared room, and offering a fantastic variety of breakfast options. However what also makes this a wonderful stay is the peaceful setting and the dramatic scenery, especially the views the farther up you walk through the farm. We went up to the mobile phone tower to see far up and down Lomond.
Stayed for one night on the way to Mull. We were travelling from Leeds after work so were expecting to arrive late (9:30-10pm) but Anne was more than accommodating of this, offering the dining room and cutlery in case we got a takeaway en route and needed somewhere to eat it! The room was comfortable, even if the decor was not the most modern, and the bathroom was nice. The water is harvested from the hillside nearby and it was delicious to drink. Breakfast the next morning was a choice of full fry up or kippers or smoked mackerel (alongside the usual cereals and toast). My wife had the fry up and I had the kippers which were all delicious and perfectly topped off with a stunning view of Loch Lomond in the morning sunshine (see picture). We had a few hours to kill before our ferry to Mull and Anne was very helpful offering a scenic route up to Oban which we enjoyed very much! In summary, a lovely stay. Thanks Anne!…
Fantastic views and a pleasure to stay on a working farm. Good breakfast and a wonderful hostess. Nearby Luss is good for eating out in the evenings, try the Village Rest for good home cooked food at a reasonable price. We would highly recommend Shantron Farm as a place to spend a few relaxing days.
