Travellers' Choice
We offer luxury en-suite accommodation, fine food, golf breaks, weddings, functions, and much more in the charming village of Powfoot near Annan in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland. The original house, which was built in the 19th century as a private residence, has been modernised to create a stylish and comfortable hotel. There are wonderful views stretching for miles over the Solway Firth toward the Lakeland hills. Most of the 25 bedrooms overlook the sea or Powfoot Championship Golf Course.

We have been regular visitors here for food over the last year. Today we were very disappointed to say the least. Staff were very pleasant, as always, but the sides of chips we ordered were undercooked (anaemic) and cold. We left most of them. We brought this to the attention of the waitress when she collected our plates. No comment. We also brought it to the attention of the receptionist when we paid. She asked if we had told waitress. Yes was the answer. No apologies and no reduction of bill whatsoever. Quite shocked as we always eat here when we visit and have never had reason to complain before. Will we return? Perhaps not.

Lovely hotel and lovely peaceful location. Excellent for a quiet romantic get away. Food good but slightly limited with a tapas styled menu ( you can have a burger option too which looked very good). Rooms very clean and fabby fluffy towels. We booked balcony view which we expected to be over the water. We did see the water but not quite the water front option we envisaged. The view was over the golf course which was nice. The walks outside are gorgeous especially the old Victorian swimming pool outside. Breakfast lovely. Recommend for a quiet getaway.

Stayed for two nights as part of a tour on Galloway. Located in a very peaceful part of the world, with stunning views over the Solway Firth over to the Lakes. Bird life amazing to watch (bring binoculars) , and pleasant walks along the beach and around the fascinating small village. Meals were Tapas style, which was an excellent way provide varied styles and quantities of food. Wines very good value, breakfasts excellent...try the kippers!. We stayed in the chalet style annex rooms...spotlessly clean, and reasonably well appointed. Staff unbelievably good...friendly, helpful and go the extra mile!. Will visit again, and will go for a front room, to further enjoy the views

Thank you so much for this amazing review, we are extremely lucky to be where we are. The views over the Solway are stunning regardless of day, night and weather! We look forward to welcoming you both back to the hotel soon, I hope you managed to spot the heron on his daily walk around the Victorian swimming pool!

First overnight stay this year. Hotel was recommended to us so we booked direct dinner bed and breakfast. Situated by the waterfront and beside the golf course, this was bliss. Lovely room with outside space and everything you'd need inside. Dinner was burgers and chips and breakfast was outstanding for choice. Staff were excellent and all worked within covid restrictions. Can't speak highly enough they gave us a memorable visit. We will return.
