We travelled from Inverness to Stranraer to curl for the weekend, the rooms were warm and cosy, staff were very helpfull and could not do enough for us. Food in the restaurant was great, nice and relaxed. When we were in the ice rink the curling was 10/10 as was the food, we ate in the Alpine restaurant and also... More

My wife June and I are very dissabled,so when we both had a clear week without any hospital appointments,I said 'that's it we're off',we need some R&R!. First I looked up holiday bargain breaks at seaside hotels on the Internet, and this one looked good to me,so I booked 6 nights full board in a disabled room with sea view,at £50-00... More

My wife and I have just returned from a long weekend break with a group of friends/curlers and I have to tell you it was just fantastic. From the friendliness of the staff(and I mean every one of them) from the maids to the waiters/waitresses to the manageress they could not have done more for us if they tried. I... More

Yes this is an old style hotel and yes it isn't all contemporary lines but it oozes in old style charm. It reminds me of the likes of Crieff hydro many, many years ago. It is so so comfortable and cosy, we just loved it's relaxed atmosphere. Our room was enormous and spotlessly clean with a very comfy, cosy bed.... More

My Wife and I recently spent a 3 night break at the North West Castle. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a large room in the older part of the Hotel. The room was very clean and bright with a sitting area for watching the TV. The bathroom was large and... More

We had the pleasure of attending a Clan Gathering in Stranraer that needed plenty of accommodation, good sized meeting rooms, quality cuisine and somewhere that would allow us to combine our celebratory dinner with a lively Ceileh. That venue I’m pleased to say was the North West Castle hotel located on Port Rodie overlooking the picturesque Loch Ryan. Our arrival... More

I stayed here last night. Am overall review would be run down and nursing home in the future. On entry the hotel smells like a library. Not a bad smell; but not one I'd like from a hotel. Checking was fine and my room ok, if a little odd in they layout. The TV was mounted on the wall where... More

From the outside this hotel appears a little careworn and in need of a refresh and update. The rooms however are lovely and modern and well equipped. In the main the staff are very helpful but the waiting staff were a little on the brusque side. My breakfast was undercooked and I therefore left all of it but even when... More

We stayed for four nights as part of the Clan Davidson Annual Gathering. We were a party of 68 and as well as needing rooms for meeting and greeting and AGM we also had a dinner dance on the Saturday night in the basement Jubilee Room. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were all cheerful and helpful. The Hotel... More

Attending a clan gathering here and were made exceptionally welcome. The check in staff sorted out rooms closer together for my elderly mother and I and made it seem a simple task when it probably wasn't. Rooms in the original hotel were lovely and spacious - made us feel very well treated. Hard to judge much of the facilities when... More
