This charming pub has a blackboard outside offering lunch at £5/£5.95. I went for lunch with a good friend. I am gluten intolerant and was extremely disappointed that the special lunch offer did not include any gluten free options. In the end I ended up paying approx £14 for something that was gluten free. Come on guys ...there are many...

Very cold evening and a very cold pub no fires lit and barely warm radiator. The chunky chips were massive and very dry. They started cleaning the tables next to us before we had finished eating so we were gently sprayed with lemon cleaner. Not a place I would recommend for a meal I am sorry to say.

An overnight stay, but we will be back. The Kings Head is a welcoming, friendly place to stay. The food is excellent, the staff attentive without being over friendly or intrusive. The building is steeped in history with original features and the rooms large and very comfortable to ensure a good night's rest.

This place has everything from great history, location, parking, through to fantastic staff, food and rooms. What more can I say except that I will be back as soon as I can and I will be staying here again rather than anywhere else in Llandovery.

Six of us had the most enjoyable night's stay at this very quaint inn. We loved it's antiquity and rambling corridors. Although our room was a little on the cold side, the bed was warm and comfy and the whole ambience extremely friendly. The food was delicious

We spent one night here, a Saturday. Our room was clean and comfortable with creaking floor boards adding to the character of the place. All staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a good meal in the restaurant. Saturday night in the bar, after a Rugby match, was boisterous. This all added to our "first night in Wales" experience. The...

Stayed one night on the way to Pembroke. We had room 12 above the kitchen fan. Luckily it did go off when the kitchen closed. The room was large and the carpet was good. It could have done with better housekeeping. It was dusty and what bothered me most was that there was no mattress protector just a sheet on...

The welcome from the young Scottish manager was wonderful; friendly, attentive and extremely helpful. He deserves to go far. The room (number 24) was very large and comfortable with lovely views over the market Square and a bathroom with a spectacular shower and good toiletries. It was worth the long, rambling adventure of corridors and stairs to reach it. The...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Once the home of the Bank of the Black Ox, the Kings Head in Llandovery is a traditional coaching inn with a history that dates back to the 17th century.Nooks and crannies, crooked floors and exposed beams together with great food and refurbished bed and breakfast accommodation, make the Kings Head the perfect modern day coaching inn and the preferred choice of many; including tourists, commuters and even members of the Royal Household.Overlooking the cobbled market square, our location is simply superb. In the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, you’ll find us just off the A40, half way between the Eastern borders of Wales and the ferry ports in the West. But it isn’t just our location that keeps regulars and visitors coming back for more. Mouth watering food, a selection of great ales and a true Welsh welcome all await you at the Kings Head in Llandovery. ... more   less
