Detailed Reviews
Just returned from a lovely break in Criccieth staying at Awel Mor. Stayed six nights, having extended from four originally booked. Mark and Louise were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble.
We were recommended the Awel Mor by Julie, the landlady of the previous place we'd stayed at in Criccieth as she had now moved on. I'm so glad she did.
We had the chance to try a couple of rooms due to our change of duration and I can say that they and the property as a whole are excellent. We had sea view rooms on the second and third floors and the standard of these was spot on both in terms of cleanliness and facilities.
The views over Cardigan Bay were stunning and with a sofa to relax and take in the view it was tempting to just stay put! It was lovely to have the windows open and hear the gentle lapping of the waves on the beach right in front of the Terrace.
Breakfast was excellent with a chance to choose what you fancied the next morning so you could ring the changes if you wished. I have to say the English Breakfast was my choice every morning, prepared fresh and spot in each day. Louise also makes her own marmalade and jam which were gorgeous and the home-baked little cakes and flapjacks were a lovely touch and quite delicious. A good selection of fresh fruit was always available too. Couldn't have asked for more.
Although Criccieth High Street was a few minutes walk, admittedly up hill as most things are in Criccieth, staying on Marine Terrace was a good location for a relaxing stay. Parking along the road is handy too. Used the train to go round the coast to Barmouth and also the short hop the other way to Pwllheli. Very handy but you need to download the TfW app and get your tickets that way as the station is unmanned and there's no ticket machine.
All in all a lovely stay and I can certainly recommend the Awel Mor. We will certainly be returning and have already prebooked for next year.

Really enjoyed our stay at Awel Mor, it's hard to fault Mark and Louise, nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was spotless and the breakfast was great, there were also freshly baked cakes or biscuits every morning at breakfast which you could take with you for later in the day, one of several nice touches which you don't get in most places. It's also yards from the beach, with great views from the front bedrooms, we would most definitely stay here again, one of the best B&B's we've been to, can't wait for our next visit

Stayed here for 3 nights and it completely exceeded our expectations. Hosts Mark and Louise were so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was lovely and very clean. Breskfast was superb plus Louise made homemade biscuits and jam which were put out on the table for us each morning. The location is perfect. Right on marine beach. Walk out of the b &b and you had the sea in front of you with views of the mountains...it was just perfect and I will definitely go back!

Absolutely outstanding views, really comfy bed & room and the breakfast was wonderful too. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Mark and Louise for such a fantastic stay. It was also such a lovely touch having the little goody bag on the breakfast table every morning with different baked goodies in. We would love to come back very soon. We are certainly missing the sound of the sea and opening the curtains every morning to that beautiful view.

From the minute I arrived at Awel Mor I was amazed at how beautiful it was, to have the sea on your doorstep was amazing!
I was shown around the B&B by Mark who told me all about the area and things to do. I was very happy with my room which I stayed in for 4 nights, it was very nicely decorated, very comfortable and very clean.
The food at Awel Mor was great! I really enjoyed the breakfast every morning which was made by Louise, I also had a packed lunch when I climbed up snowdon, which was prepared for me and definitely helped me keep going.
I can only thank Mark and Louise for their hospitality and I will definitely be back soon.

Approx my 6th or 7th visit to the excellent BnB and certainly not my last. As ever, spotless, well maintained, great welcome. In addition to delicious breakfast (cereals, fruit, cooked breakfast, lots of coffee etc), the spacious lounge is a lovely area to relax in, as well as, of course, the rooms. I'm always in a rear view room by request - a request that is always easily accommodated - but have no doubt that the views over the front are lovely. In terms of situation, the BnB s bang on the sea front affording a wind-down walking experience after a day travelling. Can't recommend enough.

Second visit to Awel Mor and first under the current (April 2023) management: an absolute pleasure to be back and will be returning. Spotlessly clean, well facilitated BnB; generous breakfast; welcoming and helpful hosts. Quiet and calm inside with no issues with noise from other guests and thick Victorian walls ensure that gusts and wind and birdcalls shouldn't be a problem for any light sleepers. Top marks.

We had a lovely 4 night break at Awel Mor. The owners are very pleasant and the little extra touches provided by them are very appreciated especially the homemade cookies. The breakfast is excellent and you make your choice the night before from an extensive choice. The rooms and public areas are very well maintained and clean and the added bonus is the sea front which you step out on to. All in all a very good holiday made extra good by the excellent accommodation.

Amazing stay at awel mor, the owners are some of the nicest people you'll meet nothing was to much for them, the breakfast is bang on and the rooms are clean big and comfortable, I would advise to get sea view room as the veiw really is amazing and the sound of the sea send you asleep at night.
I got engaged to my other half whilst in Criccieth and when we got back to the room the owner got us a bottle some chocs and a lovely card waiting at the door, it really is the little things.
10/10 the only reason not to stay here is if it's fully booked.

We stayed in the King bedroom with sea view. And what a sea view! Mark and Louise provide a sofa in front of the large bay window. Each morning we sat drinking our morning cup of tea watching dolphins, harbour porpoise, and even a seal. The breakfast Mark and Louise provide is so good that it set us up for the day.
The situation of this B&B is outstanding and Mark and Louise are outstanding hosts. Highly recommended.

The room in which we stayed was en suite but I can’t say for certain they all did. It was as exceptionally clean.

Hello, yes parking is still free opposite the hotel and also alongside the green grass area to the side of us. It can get busy with day trippers but they are usually gone early evening.
About a half hour drive
Hiya
The road that the B & B is on IS the sea front road, literally! So on the opposite side of the road to the B & B is unlimited, free parking alongside the railings, overlooking the beach. This does mean car gets sea spray lol and of course, the distance of the car depends on how many others are parked there. :-) Have a great stay :-)
"Best to get a seaview bedroom, we were in Room 2, the view was outstanding. The B&B is only 20 yards from the beach."Read full review
