An amazing 2 night stay at this great hotel. Fabulous location for walking up Cader Idris, so no need to move the car. Very helpful staff in giving you walking paths to meet up with the Mawddach trail without walking down the road into Dolgellau. Great food served at breakfast and dinner why go anywhere else. Poor internet connection and...

We had a good 3 night stay here. This is an ideal spot for a quiet break. The hotel has been fully refurbished and all furnishings are of a good quality and everywhere is very clean. Breakfast and dinner very tasty and well presented. Great walking from the door with no need to move the car. Internet connection very slow.

Great location for walking and cycling, didn't move the car all weekend. Lovely bedroom over looking the private lake. Good choice of home cooked food for evening meal and breakfast. Highly recommended.

Hotel is unique but not cheap. Friendly owner, Geraint. Try the Welsh malt whisky in the bar (wood fire, great) really smooth. Food was great, vegan & veggie was no problem. Situated in one of the most beautiful areas of Wales.

Hotel is situated in the best kept secret of Snowdonia, snuggled underneath the slopes of Cader Idris, and with a beautiful lake to its frontage, with all the colours of Autumn blazing in the late sun, and reflecting on the still surface. Great for photography and also some beautiful birdlife as you circle the lake. Hotel is comfortable with lovely...

Me and my brother stayed here for 2 nights to watch the Wales WRC. This hotel was wonderful for relaxing in after muddy long days out. Geraint & Eleri the owners were extremely friendly and provided a delicious breakfast! Our only slight issue was the WIFI reception in the room Cadair wasn't great. We'll definitely be coming back next year!

We spend few lovely days at the hotel. Owner was very pleasant and helped us plan activities. Breakfast was delicious as well as dinner. Only drawback or a plus was lack of mobile reception and super slow Internet. We will definitely come back again.

We booked last minute for a stay here. So glad we chose this great little place. A stunning setting by Lake Gwernan overlooked by the imposing Cadair Idris. A very friendly welcome greeted our arrival and we were led to a lovely cosy room, well appointed and everything we needed. As it was quite late and the place is off...

All the essentials you would expect from a hotel, just in miniture! Great food at breakfast and in the evening, bar, residents lounge, en-suites, parking. In addition the staff and owners are both friendly and knowledgable, there is a useful selection of walking aids/resources and of course it's own lake to stroll round. The temptation to climb Cadair Idris via...

Talking to my partner I realised that I hadn't written a review of our stay at the Gwernan. We stayed February last year (2015) with our cocker spaniel pup and I thought I'd write a review after reminiscing as we had an amazing stay! We were made to feel very welcome it was out of season so it wasn't very...
