We stayed at Tyddyn Mawr Farmhouse B&B for 2 nights.

Olwen is an amazing hostess. Upon arrival we were offered tea and cake and we felt like at home.

The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, cosy, spotlessly clean and with spectacular views of Cader Idris.

Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Served in cosy dining room/lounge with an impressive fire place. Fresh fruits, smoothie, juice, selection of yoghurts, homemade granola, homemade preserves, cooked breakfast (different every morning), toasts and croissants!

B&B has a great location, short drive to Dolgellau with so many pubs/restaurants.

We have styed in many different B&Bs but Tyddyn Mawr was the best. We highly recommend it and we will be definitely coming back again!

Thank you Olwen for your hospitality.

Andrea & Frank

Olwen is a perfect host. She accommodated an arrival around 1700 and showed us the the immaculately appointed room which stood under the glare of Cadair Idris. A beautiful setting which is a perfect place to launch any local walks. Breakfast was amazing - look out for the homemade museli. An Idyllic setting on a working farm.
10/10, see you again.

This was our fourth stay at Tyddyn Mawr, and once again treated so well by Olwen. The room was fantastic,as were the superb breakfasts. The situation is spectacular nestling in the foothills of Cader Idris.

Olwen recommended the Meirionydd restuarant for an evening meal, and what a meal,it had to be best meals we have had, possibly ever.
Apologies for our early departure,as the weather (Storm Dennis)was brewing, and thankfully made it home to the Vale of Glamorgan before the floods took hold.
Many thanks again Olwen.
Ian and Ali.

This was our fifth stay at Tyddyn Mawr B&B,and Olwen is the most delightful host.
The varied breakfasts were a wonder as usual. The room was spectacular with views of Cader Idris and the foothills.

The location is very good for the town of Dolgellau and wider afield.
Many thanks again Olwen you and the facilities are the best.

We stumbled across Tyddyn Mawr guest house on route to Cader Idris, we were lost so asked for directions. You were so accommodating and friendly we felt the need to comment on here. Thank you for the kindness you showed my family, you didn’t need to be so lovely and yet you were! We hope Brownie the lamb is doing well, and wish you all the good fortune you deserve. We have just returned from Tyddyn Mawr Farmhouse following a two-night stay. Me and my better half are in our 30`s and enjoy walking. We were lucky enough to stay in the first floor bedroom which had a lovely balcony, overlooking Calair Idris. The room, as is the rest of the farmhouse, is absolutely immaculate in terms of decor and cleanliness. As for the breakfasts!? Well....you should definitely pace yourself! The breakfast was great! Home-made cereal (beautiful!), home-made jams, fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, toast, tea and coffee! My word! It was all fabulous! Olwen is such a genuine lady who is both welcoming and knowledgeable.

We cannot fault this B and B.. It deserves each one of its 5-stars for cleanliness, hospitality, location, decor and food. If the room hadn`t had been booked for the following day, we would have stayed for a third night! We would recommend this B and B to our friends and family.
Thank-you for such a lovely stay, Olwen.

Emma and Jon (Cheshire).

Stayed for three nights at the Farmhouse as a part of trip to climb the Cadair Idris and the local Maddawch walks. Tyddyn Mawr is located right in the heart of gorgeous Welsh countryside ( and a great view of the majestic Cadair); the rooms are spacious – the upper room has a balcony and lower room where we stayed has a patio instead offering a great idyllic view of the greens and grazing cattle.

Olwen is a lovely host, who makes delectable breakfasts ( Strawberry pancakes was a delight). As said already, we stayed here to climb the Cadair – both the Pony path and the Foxes path are very close to Tyddn. Olwen is very knowledgable about the local walks, trust her any day to suggest the perfect walk for the weather, time of the day and the mood. There is also a good collection of Walking books and maps. Though slightly away from the town centre, there is a pub not very far away that serves decent food. Olwen also has a very handy directory of local restaurants with contact details and locations of map so advance booking is never a problem if you want try different cuisines.

Tyddyn Mawr is perfect not just for walkers, but anyone who wants to unwind in a lovely countryside.

All in all, we had a good experience, pretty good value for money. No hesitation to recommend to others, and, we will surely go back.

We have just left the most tranquil, beautiful bed and breakfast ever!!...we have literally just got home and couldn't wait to share what a fantastic time we had...
As you drive up the drive way (and i mean up.... as you are on the side of Cader Idris...a beautiful mountain .....which is the view from all rooms....) you are greeted by the stunning views all-round and then you welcomed in the farmhouse by Olwen who has a
lovely pot of tea and the best home made brownies i have ever had .... and I have had a lot....waiting for you..
There are lots of reviews regarding the amazing breakfast..... I have to totally 100% agree with all of them. everyday something different and all handmade....even the Muesli.. i thought i was on the Alpen Mountains ....Wonderfull....
The rooms are lovely and cosy after a long day climbing Snowden....we had a room on the ground floor with a patio which was so Idyllic and the most awesome view of the mountain.....Soppy Bit Alert......... Me and My wife totally fell in love again....
LOVE LOVE LOVE This B&B.... mainly because its run by a wonderful host who really takes pride in what she does and takes a real genuine interest in all her guests and makes so much extra effort for individual needs......
Thank you Snowden for killing our Bodies .... But a much BIGGER THANKYOU to Olwen for being the Hostess with the Mostest....Steve,Tisa....

My parents & I stayed here for 4 nights last week.

We arrived & Olwen greeted us & gave us tea & cake, it was very nice indeed.

The bedrooms were spotless, as were the bathrooms, the breakfasts were very interesting & varied too.

The scenery was lovely too, the mountains were spectacular.

Olwen runs a very charming bed & breakfast & it certaintly shows.

Highly recommended.

We had a very enjoyable stay.

This was our third visit to Olwen's lovely B&B. The setting at the foot of Cadair Idris is stunning and there are many walks that can be done within minutes of the front door. Getting through the breakfast is as challenging as hiking up Cadair but it does mean you can skip lunch. The food is mainly homemade or locally sourced - fruit - home made muesli - croissant - cooked meal - toast - smoothies etc. etc. Olwen is a great host and very helpful in recommending walks, restaurants etc. The rooms are nicely furnished with great views over the farm and the mountains. I hope we will return but will watch for the weather which cannot be guaranteed!
