A wonderful BnB with warm and homely guests and some of the best breakfast served in the morning - the place was almost perfect except for the following drawbacks
1. Location - While a wonderful location if you have self driven cars, it does not have any bus/train terminals closeby - so for those not renting a car, the only remaining options to get into town are walking (30-40 mins) or taxis (v expensive)
2. Booking procedure - Not very professional with regards to checking in and checking out means that our 3 night booking request was missed and we were booked only for 2 nights (as per our original request) and shunted out after the 2 days were done. Best to confirm and re-confirm that the booking is for the duration that you want it to be. The owners seemed sorry for the mis-understanding but it was us who bore the unneccesary trouble of shifting (not to mention the expense)
3. Bed size was a bit small but the private television room more than made up for it

An excellent and beautiful place to stay, unfortunately just for one night. Gwenan welcomed us very warm and after a tiresome journey on a motorbike that was all we needed.
The cottage itself is splendid! I fell in love with it from the first sight as in the whole Cymru.
Breakfast was more than enough to give us strength for the next day trip.
And we want to come back for more!

Unfortunately we are unable to give an in depth review of this B & B because, when we turned up on our booked date for 2 nights (booked 6 months in advance), - no-one was at home. Workmen at the adjacent (noisy at the time) tarmac business told us the family had gone off to the Royal Welsh Show- leaving us high and dry! Mrs Evan's mother-in-law, who we were advised to make enquiries of, told us the same. She did telephone them for us and they said they had returned our deposit 2 weeks before and cancelled. Upon our return home we found a note and cheque from them (unsigned) which had been posted 5 days before and actually on the day we started our holiday. Fortunately via Tourist Info.in Dollgellau we found a place which was of a far higher standard and in lovely surroundings with no tarmaccing vehicles rattling and banging about next door.

I needed a peaceful break out of season, I felt I had found a real oasis, the welcome was warm and helpful and the accommodation absolutely perfect. Able to have my dog with me too, altogether the break was spot on. Thanks for your kindness.

Well what more can I say from last reviews. Thoroughly enjoyed my stays at Gwenan's. Nothing is too much trouble, breakfast is superb and sets you up for the day. As stayed in the spring I spent some time in the garden playing tennis with Huw , Gwenan's 9 year old son and his dog Carlo. As usual the room was spotless and very welcoming. Will miss all the family and if you are visiting south Snowdonia no better place to use as a base.

I had just spent ten days travelling through England on the motorbike. The guest houses were ok but nothing special and on occasion was charged extra for the breakfast. On this night I had planned to camp closer to Holyhead as I had to get the ferry for 9.30am however it was getting dark and starting to rain. My wife looked online and phoned this guest house. She immediately phoned me and said 'The lady is so nice, you just have to go there'. By sheer chance it was less than 10 minutes away.
I couldn't have had any more of a warm welcome, something badly needed after a 120 mile trip on motorways during rush hour. The Cottage itself was large, well built, warm and cosy inside and gave off such a positive vibe as soon as I walked in.
I was shown through to the most wonderful bedroom on the 1st floor. Double bed with en suite bathroom. There was even enough hot water for a bath. At this stage I must apologise to the owner (if they are reading this) for I do think I used all the hot water!
I had a great nights sleep and was well rested for the 80 mile dash to Holyhead.
Highly recommended and I plan to make the trip again either solo (great roads for bikes A470) or with the family.

This charming guest house is located in beautiful countryside. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated, also the rates were very reasonable.
I was made to feel at home as soon as I entered the building by Gwenan! Nothing was too much trouble.
I was staying for business purposes and requested that breakfast be served at 7:30 (which was no bother at all to Gwenan), which was great as I needed to set off fairly early. I was served an excellent cooked Welsh breakfast.
There is a nice relaxed atmosphere at the property (would have been nice if I was staying a week for holiday!!!)
Overall I would not hesitate to stay here again.

This time the stay was for a business trip to Dolgellau. I had no hesitation in choosing Ty Glas for my stay. Again a lovely place to stay the family are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for Gwenan. I required breakfast early on some mornings and this was provided without any problems or complaints from Gwenan having to get up earlier than normal. I stayed in the 'Annexe' for this stay which again had a private lounge which was furnished with a very comfortable settee and a superb big screen tv, the bedroom window had lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Parking is no problem and I actually parked in the private courtyard when staying in the Annexe which meant I had total privacy. I hope I will be making more business trips to Dolgellau when I will not hesitate to stay with Gwenan and her family again and tell all my friends and family what a wonderful place it is to stay on holiday....

This is the best B & B that we have stayed at yet! When we arrived we got a warm welcome from Gwenan and soon realised that this was no ordinary B & B because of the relaxed manner with which she ran it. We never felt any pressure to leave each day when going out. In fact it was just like being at home. We had planned on staying four nights but ended up staying six! Gwenan is genuinely a lovely person as are her family.

Each bedroom has it's own shower/bath and lounge, one of which has an inglenook fireplace and stone spiral staircase to the bedroom (one end of a sixteenth century farmhouse) Gwenan's breakfasts were great and something that she had made sure of was to furnish the bedrooms (including the self catering flat) with orthopaedic mattresses which made sure we had a good night's sleep! When we go back to Snowdonia we will definitely stay with Gwenan again.

"The only reason I have marked Swimming pool and Fitness Centre as Average is because they are not available, however this most certainly did not detract from my stay; I suggest you amend your scoring system to have 'Not Applicable'"

"If not pre-booked go to the nearest Tourist Information Office. They have a list of inspected and vetted B & Bs with photographs etc. Small booking fee made £2, but well worth it for quality and no nasty surprises."
