Afon Rhaiadr House is just beautiful, we stayed in the 'Honeysuckle' superior room which had the most amazingly comfortable bed & large rain shower. The room was spotlessly clean & well equipped. We had an action packed weekend so greatly appreciated the comfort of the room for a well deserved rest in-between activities.

Breakfast is chosen the day before from the pre planned menu which is absolutely seaming with choice! We enjoyed it thoroughly, it set us up for the day. What was brilliant is that you had the option to have a 'packed breakfast' if you were venturing off early. Gina & both Gareth would always make the effort to take interest on what you had planned & would offer advice/hints/tips to help you.

We had a pre booked 2 course dinner on Saturday night, I had the Salmon & my partner the Beef which we both enjoyed very much, the Salmon was beautifully cooked & packed with flavour!

I can whole heartedly recommend this Country House to anyone & we will certainly be returning soon.

Thank you so much both Gina & Gareth for being such wonderful hosts, you should be proud.

Myself and my wife enjoyed a 2 night stay with a candlelit dinner on our first night. From the moment of enquiring about a booking, to arrival and during our stay Gina & Gareth were so friendly, welcoming and couldn't do enough for us, it is easy to see that they are both passionate about their B&B. We stayed in room 2 (Honeysuckle) which was large room with the comfiest bed we have ever slept in. The bathroom is kitted out with a selection of toiletries.

The Afon Rhaiadr Country House is licenced and offers a bar service with a good selection of wine and beers. Before dinner we had a drink in the lounge where Gareth had lit a roaring fire, we could have sat in there all evening but dinner was calling. The evening meal was delicious with each course being homemade with fresh ingredients .The highlight was the cheeseboard which was one of the best we have ever had and was served on a lazy Susan, a great touch. After dinner you can retire back to the lounge to relax and have another drink.

There was a great selection for breakfast including pancakes with the hot preference being pre-ordered the night before which wasn't an issue. You can either select a set breakfast or tailor your own. Again the ingredients for the breakfast were of a high quality especially the sausage and bacon and everything was cooked perfectly. They also offer afternoon tea which we didn't try as we never had time but if it is the same standard as the other food i know it will be exceptional.

There is a nice little walk around the grounds and also an old disused railway line behind the property to help burn off all those calories from dinner and breakfast for the less serious walkers like ourselves.

The service throughout was faultless, Gareth arranged a taxi into Dolgellau for us and both he and Gina always took time to talk to you and ask you about your day Thank you both for an amazing stay. We will be back.

Very enjoyable 3 night stay in the beautiful Welsh countryside approximately 3 miles East of Dolgellau. We stayed in room 3 called Jade , it is compact but very well equipped and appointed overlooking the rear of the house . The well fitted private bathroom is about 3 or 4 steps from the room across the landing . Robes are provided .

Gina And Gareth are excellent hosts and have thought of everything with nice little touches throughout the property . They also take the Covid situation very seriously which is reassuring.

We ate at the Cross Foxes which is about 2.5 miles away which was nice and the The Royal Ship hotel in Dolgellau which was excellent, Tuesday happened to be the their Chippy Tuesday with Excellent Fish & Chips or Scampi and Chips only £7.95 , a bargain !! We are at the house and had an excellent meal .

We very walked the Panoramic walk near Barmouth which was great , Gareth supplied a map and details of how to get there . You can do just about a mile to enjoy a fabulous view or around 4 miles for the whole walk .

We also drove to Snowdon which was about 1 and a half hours drive although I think there is a slightly quicker way to the Snowdon station . The walk and train part way up was superb .

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone . Thank you Gina & Gareth .

We have recently had a truly wonderful 3 night stay at Afon Rhaiadr in the company of our lovely hosts Gina & Gareth. Our room, the Honeysuckle, was spacious and extremely comfortable, complemented by top quality bedding and a large walk in rain shower together with a full range of high quality toiletries, beautifully soft towels and bathrobes.
Breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented and really set us up for the day ahead. (Gina's porridge is to die for!!).
If requested, a candlelit dinner is served on three nights of the week. We ordered this for the Saturday and was superb. All home made with quality ingredients. Afterwards you can retire to the lounge opposite with your drinks and chat to other guests. A really nice and relaxing way to spend the rest of the evening.
Gina and Gareth have an extensive knowledge of the surrounding area and can recommend many things to do and places to see and explore. Afon Rhaiadr is situated a few miles north of Dolgellau at the southern end of Snowdonia and is surrounded by stunning views of woodland and mountains.
A visit here is truly unforgettable, quite apart from the beauty of the house, rooms and superb food, The hosting skills of Gina and Gareth are exemplary. They are passionate about your stay being nothing less than perfect and in this they succeed 100%. We had a fantastic time and will certainly return. Put quite simply, You arrive as guests but depart as friends. Many thanks Gina & Gareth for giving us three wonderful days. Graham & Wendy.

Came back last Monday from a three day bank holiday stay at this wonderful boutique B&B near Dolgellau in Wales. Our hosts Gina & Gareth are the warmest, friendliest and most helpful of people. We stayed in the Foxglove room which, apart from being a large and spacious room also has a superbly comfortable king sized with top quality bed linen. The en suite also comprises the most amazing spa bath. (once in it you never want to get out). A beautifully cooked breakfast each morning set us up nicely for the day ahead, and on one evening we had the superbly cooked 3 course candlelit dinner. Top quality food, beautifully cooked, and presented. Afon Rhaiadr is a stunning house set in its own grounds, surrounded by woodland, which has its own garden and waterfall. It is in an ideal location for local walks and exploring Snowdonia National Park in general. It was our second visit to Gina & Gareth's lovely B&B and despite covid 19 restrictions we have every bit a smashing time as we had on our first visit. Thank you Gareth & Gina for being perfect hosts. We enjoyed every minute. We shall return.

Fantastic location beautiful vast gardens with a waterfall and many seating area beautiful plants and trees, a bird feeding area that was a hive of activity. Glorious huge bedroom with huge bed white cotton bed linen some lovely vintage furniture including a chaise which was a lovely touch, lovely decor matching blinds & curtains two chairs and a table with really nice cushions. En-suite bathroom nice big shower ( good shower) complimentary shampoo & conditioner and shower gel high quality brands, big fluffy white towels.
Breakfast was so good a really good choice my personal favourite was the fried shallots & tomatoes with avocado smash with a poached egg on the top on toast with streaky bacon on the side AMAZING.
Had a three course meal on the Saturday beautiful salad, pot roast beef , and the best lemon cheesecake I’ve ever tasted all cooked by the owner Gareth and the desserts by Gina WOW amazing.
It was our wedding anniversary and we asked if they would make us a jug of Sangria which they pulled of with great success 👍🏻 nothing is to much trouble.
Gareth & Gina are great hosts very good cooks for one but very nice people with a great depth of knowledge about the area, walks restaurants everything you just have to ask.
Wouldn’t hesitate to go back 10/10 .

We have just spent two nights at this amazing B&B which fully deserves the wonderful reviews that it receives. Gareth and Gina are simply perfect hosts and did not stop at anything to ensure that our stay surpassed expectations. Dinner on Monday evening, cooked by Gina, was as good as you would get in a top quality restaurant. In this difficult time that we are currently living we felt totally safe as their attention to detail for COVID secure measures was beyond expectations. If you choose to stay here while visiting this part of a Wales you will not regret it.

We stayed at Afon Rhaiadr for a weekend break to enable us to visit Port Merrion.
From the moment we arrived we received a lovely warm welcome.
We stayed in the purple room number 5. Room was lovely and clean and well presented. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room and fresh milk was left in the fridge on the landing. Breakfast was a pre order system which is ok for us and understandble in the current climate, nobody likes to see waste.
We both had a full cooked breakfast on the first day which was really tasty and very well cooked and presented, food was lovely and hot.
On the second day I opted for the healthy breakfast which was a wonderful bowl of fresh fruit, yoghurt, museli and honey, I have to say it was delicious.
The lovely couple that run the guest are very friendly and make you feel right at home. All in all a wonderful stay 😀😀

We have just returned from a four night stay with Gina and Gareth.
What a delight from the moment we arrived to the moment we sadly left.
They are both charming people who clearly are passionate about ensuring a relaxing, comfortable stay in wonderful countryside.
We felt as if we were close friends staying in their home for a few days.
Very comfortable and well appointed in all respects.
Nothing was too much trouble from filling our water bottles prior to us going off walking to ringing the local restaurants to book tables for us.
Their renowned breakfast certainly sets you up for the day.
We ate in on one of the evenings and enjoyed a first class three course meal, followed by a Brandy by the roaring log fire.
I could go on.
We will be back for more later in the year.
Book early to avoid disappointment.
Thank you both for a lovely relaxing stay.

We had a 2 night stay and it was absolutely brilliant. Gina and Gareth work extremely hard to keep Afon Rhaiadr running so well. Prior to arrival we were sent very easy to read documentation on hotel procedures during COVID. We had to order room supplies such as tea, coffee etc which was super easy via an online form. Also, breakfast and dinner requirements, also super easy. We were greeted on arrival and talked through (at distance) the COVID procedures that are all very well implemented within the b&b from check in, room readiness and dining. The hotel and grounds are very well kept and situated in the most tranquil of locations. We stayed in the Iris room and it was very well presented, with a lovely en-suite. We dined on the first night and the food was delicious and lovingly prepared by both Gina and Gareth. The breakfast was fresh local produce and plentiful. We asked for some extras and changes with breakfast and everything was taken care of, it was perfect on both mornings. We were sad to leave today, as we would’ve loved to have stayed longer. Gina and Gareth are the perfect hosts, so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for such a superb couple of nights, we will certainly return for longer.

Hi, we are a 5 min drive from Dolgellau our nearest town which has pubs and restaurants. 20 min Drive to a seaside town called Barmouth which also has pubs, restaurants and the sea. We have a dinner service here on Monday Wednesday and Saturday night. The area is great for relaxing, in the warmer months the garden is lovely to sit and enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature.
