The Penycoed Hall Suite is a spacious, characterful and contemporary apartment with stunning views of the mountains beyond Dolgellau within easy walking distance of the towns restaurants and pubs.

The suite has a four poster bed, sofa, sitting area overlooking the hills, furnished with indulgent paintings, linens, cushions, facilities for teas etc so lots of reasons to spend time and enjoy the views. Serafina is a fabulous host delivering a bacon and egg bun to your door every morning and clearly in her couple of months here has made a fabulous impact on this building.

The Hall is in a great location - we walked from the Hall to the top of Cadar Idris, a 10 min journey to the Coed y Brenin Forest Bike Park and 2 mins cycle to the Mawdachh Trail to Barmouth.

Such a quirky apartment after walking through an amazing hallway. Huge rooms, spotlessly clean with intriguing decor. Comfy sofa, nice size TV in the lounge and smart channels with lots of apps.

Fridge, toaster and microwave supplied along with plentiful supply of a great breakfast selection. Only problem was that you then had to carry pots into the bathroom to wash them, make sure you take washing up liquid.

Fabulous bath however due to the age of the plumbing there is only enough water for one bath and two hours later there still wasn’t enough for hubby. An electric shower and all would be perfect.

You are in your own little world once you’ve closed the door to the apartment, so peaceful and restful and a comfortable bed makes for a perfect night’s sleep.

The one thing I found a bit off putting was the number of locked doors in the apartment and not knowing what was on the other side was a bit creepy.

Serafina checked with us every morning to make sure we had everything we needed but everything was so well stocked we didn’t need anything.

If a one night stay this would have been a 5. If I could it would have been 4.5. Just not enough hot water and self catering facilities for the 4 night stay. Highly recommend this beautiful location.

We booked last minute after walking up Cader Idris. We stayed the night in Swift Cottage. Beautifully renovated with everything we needed. Netflix and Prime on the tv and the added bonus of a continental breakfast.
Sera fins and Neal were great hosts and have a wonderful property with stunning views looking out over Dolgellau and Cader Idris.
Great location to walk into town and by a good road network to get all round North Wales

Stopped on the motorbike on the way back from Pembrokeshire. Serafina and Neal couldn’t have done more to make me feel welcome. Fantastic old mansion with a lot of charm and character. Lovely quaint town a short walk down the hill. Thanks and see you again

Large appartment with fantastic views.
Serafina and Neal were really helpful.
They had only just bought the property and were renovating.
However we would definitely return
The phone number for the property doesn't work which needs to be addressed
Continental breakfast with pastries was more than sufficient
Lovely hosts and property
Thanks

Exceptional and very special place to stay. A luxurious room, decorated in a style totally in keeping with the historic property but with modern amenities. A very comfortable bed, plenty of hot water and a good breakfast served in the room. But the best things were the amazing, dramatic view of the mountains (weather permitting!) and the warm welcome from the owners. We wished we could stay longer and will be back!

The view of Dolgellau from the North side of its river, Afon Winion with Cadair Idris above it, is storybook perfection. The mountain itself has an almost biblical look to it with its rocky crags overseeing daily life in this charming hamlet.

Through the local TIC we found our lodging for our stay in Dolgellau, Penycoed Hall. We immediately bonded with the owners, Madge and Nigel who made us feel more than guests in their home but like family members home for a few days. The building itself is remarkable with a grand front entrance and an even grander staircase leading up to the bedrooms. We were the only guests for the period that we were there. Not that it would have mattered with its 18 to 24 inch thick walls we not have been disturbed by a rock and roll band playing in the next room.

The bathroom, with its giant tub was marvelous and appreciated by Joan as she indulged herself in a luxurious soak in its depths.

Everthing about Penycoed Hall pleased us. The room, the breakfast, the cleanliness and best of all the hospitality shown to us by Madge & Nigel.

I stayed with my wife and 2 year old daughter and we all loved it. A beautiful house with a rich history. The grand hallway was quite breath taking. Our room (Cambrian suite) was absolutely massive with incredible views of the mountains. The garden was very nice. The hosts Nigel and Madge were lovely. Very welcoming and helpful. Nigel even helped organise a viewing of a local property I was interested in. We will recommend to friends and family and hopefully visit again in the future.

This place is just such a gem! We made a very last minute decision to go on a mini-break to Wales over the weekend. We stumbled upon this place due to a Google recommendation and really couldn't have been more fortunate. The place itself is perched on top of a beautiful flowery hilltop overlooking a stunning mountain range -the view is truly breathtaking. The building is this gorgeously grand old Welsh Victorian mansion house.

We called in from our car only an hours drive away and asked if they had any vacant rooms for the two of us and our two-year old son. We were told their regular rooms were booked up, but were generously offered a self-catering apartment for the same cost. The apartment was very large, comfortable and spotlessly clean.

We were asked for our breakfast orders the night before and enjoyed a lovely spread the following morning.

Nigel and Madge are a lovely warm couple who really put their heart and soul into making everyone feel well looked after. They offered us excellent tips for sightseeing and were just generally really lovely and accommodating.

We will definitely be coming again!

I stayed at Penycoed Hall at the beginning of May on business. They were very accommodating hosts. I arrived late in the evening, Nigel stayed up until I arrived and was friendly and welcoming. The room was large, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The view from the room, and out the front, is incredible. I enjoyed a nice morning coffee taking in the delights of the Welsh countryside. Nigel was an accommodating host, and was very helpful. Overall I would recommended the B&B, and will stay again if I am in the area. I would just like to know where you got that bed from?!?! Callum
