This is the 3rd time I've stopped off at the George and I just cannot work out what their problem is? If you want to be greeted by extremely rude awful staff and an unfriendly welcome then this place is for you! Never have I met such miserable people who are quite blatantly rude to your face. Surely if you...

Been meaning to go to Barmouth for ages, and found time so booked within 2 days of travel - by using booking.com, quick and easy. Nowhere available in Barmouth (we have a dog to cater for)! Saw the George, looked nice, price was right, etc... Couldn't have been better. What a location, on the edge of the estuary with magnificent...

We stayed here in early November. We know the area well as we used to bring the children here for a week every year many, many moons ago. It has changed very little and is still a wonderful part of the world. The Hotel is old and fascinating, having originally bee a chandlery when they built ships the estuary. The...

I was a bit dubious after reading some of the reviews but this hotel is really a great little find. Check in was easy and the staff were not at all rude. We arrived earlier than the 3pm check in but that was no problem. We were in room 7 which is in the lodge. Really spacious, warm and cosy....

Three walking companions used George III Hotel as a base...again. The hotel is a lovely old building; every floorboard creaks, every pipe seems to clank and don't forget to mind your head against low-flying beams. Brilliant. No shortage of hot water for a soak in the bath after a long day walking in the hills. The location of this hotel...

We recently had a three night stay. We found the staff lacked basic courtesy and competence . The breakfast was poor, scrambled eggs on cold plates with unbuttered toast. Waitress standing while we finished our last few mouthfuls. Also there was a half used toilet roll under the bed when we arrived which was still there when we left, a...

Went for lunch and a drink and every time you went up to the bar the staff were absent - seemingly on the phone or otherwise distracted - during lunch. Once the order was in the baguettes arrived and were OK but should be a little more customer aware - also noted only 2 out of 5 for hygiene so...

Nice looking hotel in a stunning setting, with easy close access to the car park. The hotel itself is in need of some TLC but is still very quaint. Our room was a good size and nicely fitted out with the usual fittings albeit in need of a little modernisation nevertheless it was clean and comfortable. The staff were very...

We stayed here for one night and our room was warm, comfortable and we had a great view of the Estuary. Food was excellent as always - we've been eating here regularly for 20 years but this was the first time we have stayed over. The gentleman who booked us in was as miserable as ever - I've yet to...

As you see from others, very mixed reviews. Having spent the day in Barmouth, we called in for a drink (beer and coffee) and more importantly, a sit on the balcony and take in the fantastic views. Worth it !! Our welcome wasn't all that friendly from the chap behind the bar. You might be seduced by the views and...
