Stayed here for a night whilst visiting family in nearby Pwhelli. What a lovely little spot. Rooms clean and beautifully decorated. Really good nights sleep on a very comfortable mattress. Very happy that the rooms provided spring water in paper cartons and the straws in the pub were also paper. Top marks! Staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a family meal in the evening and the food was not only delicious but very reasonably priced. As a vegetarian i was very happy with the option I chose. In fact they had a whole plant based menu alongside the regular meals. Breakfast was very enjoyable, a buffet style affair with plenty of choice and the coffee was delicious. Would definitely recommend 👍

Upon arrival everyone was friendly and helpful, the room was nice and big, comfy bed, lovely location, nice clean bathroom and very homely feel. We enjoyed our time although it was quite stormy, we still got to visit nearby places and have a relaxing weekend. The parking was quite good as there was plenty of room outside, although on one occasion we had to park on the middle part of the road, due to it being extremely busy which was not a problem as the car was still safe. There is internet, but it can be quite slow at times, but I think that is due to the type of connection/area, it still worked though and we still got to use it as needed. The only issue was that we had asked for our room to be cleaned (with the little door hanging thing) on the second day, mainly due to needing more toilet roll and wanting the bin emptying. When we came back it hadn't been done. We didn't make a fuss but went down to ask for more and it was brought up straight away. That is the only issue which we had whilst staying here, otherwise it was a lovely break.

Thanks again for a fabulous night away , our wooden panelled suite in The Madog building was spotless , lovely comfortable Super king bed , warm and roomy with views across the square.
Our evening meal was a credit to the kitchen, we opted for a cheese and pineapple pizza starter which was the BEST pizza we have had in a very long time . Followed by Greek style cod with salad and my wife opted for a medium welsh rump with peppercorn sauce along with their home made crispy edged chips beautiful!
The Morning freshly prepared welsh breakfast was quality as was my poached eggs on smashed avocado sourdough with smoked salmon ...memorable.
All Staff were polite attentive, knowledgable .
Thanks to Becky , Stuart and all the team looking forward seeing you again.

We stayed one night only. The room was small, the staff were ambivalent (made zero effort to be welcoming), the food was underwhelming (coffee from a machine, not even fresh!), and the location was loud, and we were charged a £25 extra hidden charge (this establishment was the first when we googled 'dog-friendly places to stay', but when we arrived/on the actual day of arrival, we were told 'no dogs allowed' - and then we were charged £25 because we had our dog with us! We loved Wales, but hated our one night at the Golden Fleece. Such a disappointing visit.

I am so disappointed that after making a special allowance against my better judgment you have written such a terrible review. These are the real facts: 1. we do not have control; of what 3rd party websites / search engines list. 2. our website clearly states on the accommodation page: just above the book now button (in large print) " Please note that while pets are welcome in our bar we only allow them in our 2 Bedroomed cottage at a supplement of £10 per dog per stay" 3. you confirmed you had read and agreed to our terms and conditions which clearly state pets are not allowed in rooms. 4. You booked a pet free room - then sent a note saying you were bringing a small dog 5. We tried to contact you by email, text and phone, you did not at any point answer or reply to us 6.you arrived and your dog was not small at all it was the size of a retriever! 7. we explained we had been trying to contact you and we did not accept dogs any accommodation other than our cottage. 8. Because you had traveled to us and we knew you would struggle to find alternative accommodation we offered to have the room deep cleaned after your departure for a extra fee of £25 or we would refund you your money entirely. (btw most hotels charge £10 or more in a pet friendly room any way!) 9. we did not have to offer either of these as you had via;ated our booking policy and we were within our rights to turn you away. 10. Having made the offer as a gesture of good will against my better judgment you have only galvanised my belief that I should not bend the rules in the future. 11. Ambivalent does not mean made zero effort its meaning is to have contradictory attitudes or feelings toward something or someone. 12. Coincidently I believe your review is Ambivalent Regards Stuart

Room was small , and lacking in decent storage for clothes . The wardrobe was difficult to use as the clothes rail was at least 6ft. 6 above the floor and the clothes hangers were difficult to use at this height . Bathroom required a shelf for guests toiletries above the wash basin . Food on the whole was reasonable , however on the middle night of our three night stay I ordered the Shin Beef with mushrooms , potatoes and a red wine jus. What I received was a very overcooked piece of beef on a bed of red cabbage , some mushrooms and no red wine jus. It was not the best meal , my wife had ordered welsh lamb , and the gravy was very salty. we complained and were offered a free drink. Chef needs supervising.

Stayed with my wife recently and although the room was decorated very well also having a spa bath it was greatly let down by housekeeping. When paying £95 for a room (without breakfast) I expect it to be perfect, I don't expect to find cobwebs in the room especially when I'm not going looking for them, these were blindingly obvious...
And when you have nice shower gels hand creams etc make sure the pump actually works on them rather than just refilling them and not testing they work as it's about as much use as a chocolate fireguard...

We stayed here for just 1 night, located in a quiet square with ample parking the room was comfortable and clean, very noisy early in the morning due to workmen arriving. Unfortunately we had to have the 'continental breakfast' due to the pub refurbishment, which was very disappointing (cereal bar, carton of apple juice, banana and a chocolate filled pastry - not everyone has a sweet tooth). Great location for visiting areas around.

Stayed for 2 nights in the 2 bedroomed cottage which is located across the Square and on the main road but a very short walk to the pub. Check in was very straightforward and the cottage had all the essentials plus was very clean. The big surprise was how large it was - the limited photos on the website don't really do it justice. The cottage has two bedrooms; one with en-suite bathroom plus a shower room. Overall, an excellent stay, which I have already recommended to some friends.

Location is good just 1 mile from Porthmadog and there is ample parking.

Note the (very good) breakfast is included only if you book on the hotel website (not via Air BnB).

Arrived early evening after a long drive. Free on street parking outside the hotel on a first come first serve basis. Check in was quick and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the square at the front of the Inn. Didn't do a 'four in a bed' room inspection but everything was clean and tidy. with complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water. The decor and furniture was simple and practical. There was an extra blanket, iron and ironing board in the wardrobe along with a hairdryer. Bathroom was spotless. We'd called ahead and booked a table in the pub for dinner. Not cheap but tasty. Fish and chips were great but the vegan kebab was a little dry. That said there were a couple of vegan options which is always exciting! The second night we had pizza in the beer garden which was lush. Breakfast was brilliant with a good selection of choices. Only negative would have to be noise. This is nothing to do with the Golden Fleece but more to do with location. Rubbish was collected twice a week at around 6.30am closely followed by delivery lorries at around 7.30am and because of the warm weather we left the window open - so a relaxing lie in was out of the question. I'd also suggest some blackout curtains in the room - just for that couple of days a year when the sun is out!

Really nice place. The rooms we stayed in were like semi detached from the pub. The rooms are modern and clean. Quite basic, but you have a iron, ironing board, hairdryer, toiletries and coffee/ tea making facilities. We had a road/ the square view and we didn’t hear any tariff noise. The people are really friendly, I recommend booking a table if you want to eat, as the two day we stayed it was busy. Decent prices. The only thing I would say if you are planning on staying, is that, you can hear all the other rooms doors open/ shut and occasionally other rooms conversations. It’s very close knit and if you are staying for a few days, come 10am the staff will wake you. But it’s nothing too annoying. Definitely stay again.

If you go on our website and go to the accommodation page there is moving video of each of the rooms, there is also pictures on the booking page. You can also ask via email for pictures. There are 2 rooms so make sure you request the one you want as they are both different in decor. Kind regards Stuart, Liam and the Team
