Not a particularly attractive building from the road but inside it is full of character & welcoming. There are a lot of plus points for this hotel - we stayed in "Mr Stiggens" which was a good sized room with a nice bathroom & shower. It was equipped with good quality furnishings plus tea/coffee making facilities, nice biscuits and free...

The bar at the Bull is busy and comfortable, the Loft restaurant is excellent!! And the rooms in the Bull are large and nicely equipped, and more contemporary in the Town House. What you get for your money is a great combination of comfort and high end food. I would recommend it highly.

The Bull is a lovely old coachinf style pub. It has a mix of its old rooms (apparently very individual and quaint and newer rooms across the road in the twon house. Intead of falling into the trap of creating new 'old' rooms, they seized the nettle and have made really nice modern rooms with style. Much smarter than you...

A bad start with a bar man with a bad attitude, disappointing food, a steak requested as rare was medium/well done, belly pork minus stated croquettes, boring vegetable fricassee a dry laver bread and smoked cheese scone which tasted of neither! Very disappointed, however we voiced our concerns to staff who offers us free desserts to compensate, great shame as...

Spent two nights here - Mr Diggins was the room - very nice and even nicer large bathroom. Room overlooked the main drag outside. No noise - probably because not a lot happens here. The hotel is absolutely spotless, the bar is a busy yet friendly hub of the hotel, all the other pubs in the town are pretty awful...

Don't be put off by the lack of curb appeal! On pulling up outside on a wet and windy day, the outside looked shabby and I really did wonder what I'd booked. Inside I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. My friend and I stayed in the "Dr Johnson" room. A really nice twin room over the bar and the...

We stayed in the townhouse for bank holiday weekend. Firstly the room was amazing, we stayed in the pearl room which was big and absolutely stunning. Breakfast was lovely, food and service wise (£12 does seem a little steep at first but it was definitely worth it!). We also dined in the brasserie which was beautiful and bright. I had...

Having eaten well here previously I went this evening with my wife - full of expectation..... What a disappointment. Noisy - a young child shouted throughout. The starters were average and lacked the bread to soak up the sauce. The egg was over cooked. The lentil main was very bland - difficult to taste any flavour let alone lemon -...

Me and my partner stumbled across the restaurant on a day out visiting the castle. We had a look at the menu outside and were both sold on the burger straight away....and its fair to say we were not disappointed. The food was amazing; i think it’s safe to say THE best burger i have ever had!!! Fantastic service and...

We are reasonably frequent diners in Michelin-starred restaurants and the Loft at the Bulls Head was up there with many of them. We had an excellent dinner with great service, and are looking forward to a return visit. The menu doesn't offer a huge range but to my mind that's a good thing, partly because it probably means that what...
