Hotel has loads of character and history and did a tour and camera shoot around ruins . But found the menu expensive and not much choice had the rib eye which was just thrown on plate with just chips no garnish or salad (but it was cooked perfect) Also ordered preseco in room for arrival but was not there Phil...

Dear Mr Hamlett Thank you for your recent review, we have to agree....if you don't dine in Berties then 'on the hill' which is just a stones-throw away from the hotel, is a real treat. We hope to see you again soon.

As a quick statement we would not stay here again , but we would certainly dine here. We purchased a voucher claiming a nights stay at the end of October including breakfast , prosecco and discounted spa treatment. The room we were allocated was small but comfortable and bathroom clean and stylish, however view was disappointing over a skip and...

Dear Jacky G Thank you for your review regarding your stay back in October. The stairs your refer to down to the Spa are a staff area. The sign on the door to access the stairs does read 'staff only' we would not encourage our guests to use this staircase. The lift to the Spa is situated right beside these...

There was a party of 13 of us for New Years Eve, and I think everyone thought it was a great experience with a few unexpected bonuses - a champagne & canape reception and fireworks at midnight - to name 2. Our room was quirky but clean and the bathroom fine. The banquet was very good (with singing too) and...

Dear 66cas99 Thank you for choosing Ruthin Castle as the destination for your new year celebrations, we were honoured to have you and your party as our guests for the night. The banquet and black tie ball have both received wonderful feedback. We couldn't pull off such wonderful events without the staff. They are hard working, dedicated and deserve the...

Not great, no way a 4 star hotel, breakfast poor, not even a hash brown, no breakfast menu, only 3 main dishes to choose for dinner, bedroom doors slamming constantly, the thing is the staff were lovely, just trying to work with what they have.

Dear Dawn G Please accept my sincere apologies that you felt disappointed following a recent stay. We do have a breakfast menu on display with options such as pancakes, eggs benedict, smoked fish etc as alternatives to the full Welsh breakfast. The three course, three choice menu for dinner is the Table d'hotel menu, for alternative options there is further...

I booked Ruthin as I wanted too surprise my partner with staying for two nights in an historical castle. Well were were totally surprised but not delighted. We were allocated a double deluxe room. Note the term deluxe. It certainly was not deluxe at all and there were a litany of shortcomings unbecoming of what is a 4 start hotel....

We had such high hopes for this hotel so it pains me to give it only a 3, I read numerous reviews about some of the hotel rooms needing revamping so I kind of expected this but this was not an issue for us as we really liked our room. The reason for the 3 stars... Cleanliness... this is a...

Amazing location especially for a wedding. Hotel was very cold apart from a couple of public rooms - no obvious attempt to heat the place with doors left open to the outside. Breakfast was disorganised with lack of food ready at busy times. Spa was good - excellent thermal suite and relaxing full massage

My Daughter bought us Afternoon Tea Vouchers for Christmas. The setting as we drove up, beautiful. That grounds are stunning, The steps to the entrance were rather dirty and neglected. The main doors into the building were filthy. The reception staff were friendly and took us thru to Berties restaurant, where we we're to have afternoon tea, the room was...
