Whitesands Camping® is the only campsite next to the beautiful Whitesands Beach. The atmosphere is welcoming, laid-back, friendly and focused on the beach next door. From the comfort of your pitch: choose the best waves, go for a swim, explore the rock pools and experience the magic of a Whitesands sunset - no driving involved (or £6 beach car park fees). Pitches for tents, trailer tents, campervans and motorhomes. Newly built Shower and Toilet Block (August 2020). Wi-Fi available on site. Card payments preferred. Chemical waste point for motorhomes. Water taps dotted about the site. Hook-ups on main site. There’s no booking system for pitches or hook-ups, so it's a case of checking the Tariff page updates on the website and "turn up on the day"; report to the office, buy some shower tokens and make the most of the sunshine. Stay as long as you wish (most stay longer). Surf hire and lessons on site, ice cream & beach chairs nearby, cafe next door in beach car park. Between May-September: dogs are banned from the beach (but well-behaved owners and their dogs are allowed on the site, and Porthsele and Porth Melgan beaches are a short walk along the coast, without restrictions); next to the campsite a bus takes you to St Davids (2 miles away); and Lifeguards man the beach. Our rates are among the lowerst in the area. So, if you want to camp and relax next to an amazing beach, without fuss, at reasonable cost, then this is definitely for you.

After leaving it late to book a trip away for the Bank Holiday we were stuck for ideas as most camping sites were either fully booked or extremely expensive. Not here, we was promised there would be plenty of space and at only £9 or so a night it sounded the real deal. Upon arriving we was extremely happy to see everything was as promised. So much space over the fields and really friendly staff running the site. It was really refreshing to see the staff actually going round and having a chat to everyone. Very laid back atmosphere and things are kept simple. Pay at the hut, respect others and all is good.

You couldn’t ask for a better view and doubt you’ll find such camping. Directly overlooking Whitesands bay it’s just the perfect spot to get get away from things. Only 20 min or so walk to St David’s where there are some great pubs and all shops you need. If you’re after a place with all the mod cons and need solid phone signal/internet this isn’t for you but if you’re easy going and don’t mind going back to basics this really is the perfect spot.

We was also impressed that they accept groups with no fuss. A lot of campsites can be really stuffy about this but here no bother at all. We was a group of 5 and welcomed with open arms. What I felt was very good is how they have different fields so if you are a group they can put you a little further away to the families who are mostly closer down to the beach. We made sure not disturb anyone with loudness but this just helps a lot and keeps all happy.

Overall I fully recommend and had a brilliant weekend away. Views, staff, value top notch!.

My wife and I travelled late August, just as the farm fields were closing for the year, the main site is relatively small but people are coming and going all the time, so we took the chance and ended up with an electric hook up pitch.
The site manager, Mark and his assistant Sam are super helpful and really friendly, as well as the fantastic location they are a real plus point and one of the reasons that we'll be visiting again.

The site is basic in terms of amenities, which is what we wanted but the new toilet and shower block is very good and always clean, with shower tokens available at the site office which is situated right next to the showers. Card or Apple pay acceptable for any amount, in fact preferred.

Whitesands beach is literally 30 seconds walk from the campsite and that's if you take your time, the sunset we saw there on our first night will never be forgotten, the sky turned red as the sun slowly slipped beyond the horizon.

St Davids is approx. 35 mins walk, but there's a shuttle bus that leaves the beach car park, next to the campsite, every 30 mins in peak holiday time and every hour in September.

Myself and my friends have just returned from a week's camping at Whitesands. This was our 6th visit to the site - we first started coming when we were 17 in 2016, and we intend to keep returning every year. The site overlooks one of the UK's best beaches, and is located right on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, with Carn Llidi hill as an impressive backdrop to the north of the site.

We pitch more or less in the same spot every year up in the farm fields and enjoy a fantastic view just outside our tent door. In previous years, the site was managed by the 'Famous Pete', who we got on with really well. He still holds the fort in the public car park at the bottom of the site, so we had a good chat with him this year too. As of 2021, the site has a new campsite manager, Mark, who we found to be very helpful and an all-round decent bloke who honestly couldn't do enough for us. The owner John kept stopping by for a chat too and he was very friendly as well.

Since I last reviewed this site on here, a new toilet block has been built by Mark (opened August 2020) - the toilet and shower facilities have gone from being perfectly acceptable to genuinely some of the best facilities I've seen on a campsite. Taps for drinking water are located conveniently around the site, which means you never have to walk too far to get water which is handy too.

If you're after a camping holiday with a view, I would recommend you give this site a try, you will be very impressed. Excellent site, friendly people and lots to do in and around Whitesands Bay and St. Davids. See you next year guys!

Thank you for this informative and positive review. After staying 6 years with us I suspect you know the campsite as well as anyone! I'm so pleased you noted the new showers and toilets, the amazing views, and thank you for your positive comments on the staff (they try very hard to please). Look forward to your visit next year; please bring the usual good humour!

We had an amazing stay at Whitesands campsite, it’s everything you could ask for - beautiful views of the beach, lovey pitches, loads of room, clean bathroom and shower block, great value. There’s a pizza kiosk two/three nights a week and a burger van once a week for dinner and breakfast. Campsite is right next to the beach but feels very safe and friendly. Easy access to coastal walks and beautiful coves and beaches. 4 minute drive to St David’s which has a big supermarket and lots of nice independent shops and pubs. The owner Mark is super friendly and ready to help out, giving us some great recommendations of places to visit. We would 100% recommend this campsite, best one we’ve ever been to! Thank you so much!!

Even though our tent was the furthest away from the beach we still had an amazing view to wake up too every morning. The facilities where impeccable for the price you are paying and the staff was on hand to give you any information you need. What a break we had and definitely will be coming back more than once no doubt great campsite!

Feeling apprehensive as we pulled up because we hadn't booked it and it was our first camping trip, but within seconds of meeting Mark we were instantly put at rest and there was availability, we even managed to put the tent up on a breezy day! If like me you're worried because you can't book, don't be as there is plenty of space with electric hook up or without and we arrived at the beginning of August. We were only going to stay 2 nights but we ended up staying 4 and we know it will be somewhere we will return to again. Obviously our experience was helped by the amazing weather but to hear the ocean when lying in your tent and see it as soon as you step out of your tent was amazing. The facilities are great and one shower token lasts 5 minutes so the children had a shower together as there was plenty of time. We walked into St.David's (2.5 miles) and got the bus back (£3 for a family of four!) and this in itself was an adventure, the driver was amazing and provided much entertainment on the journey. The beach has lifeguards during peak times, great beach cafe 2 minute walk that does breakfast cobs, lunch, ice-creams and sells alcohol. We loved this place and Mark is a great site manager - nothing is too much trouble. The facilities are lovely and cleaned every day. Thank you!

First time here, great to just turn up and hope there's space....there was! Greeted by site manager Mark, top bloke, nicely managed, friendly helpful chaps with regular site checks. We had an amazing time, spectacular views of the bay. We were blessed with beautiful weather, sea mist for a couple of nights didn't bother us.
We found a great spot, slopping fields did bother us as we were in our camper so levelled up ok, but theres lots of good flat areas too.
Toilet and shower block all served the purpose and mobile pizza hut, burger van made it great for super if you didn't fancy cooking in the evening.
The local hopper bus stop is across on the beach car park, along with a cafe and public loos. Coastal path is on the doorstep.
We had lovely camping neighbours too throughout our stay.
We will most certainly be back.

As a group of friends, we have been visiting Whitesands Camping since 2016, returning every August since. This year was our 7th trip.

The location is perfect for us - the campsite overlooks Whitesands Bay, a gorgeous beach, with the Pembrokeshire Coast Path running adjacent to the site.

The facilities are great too. The new toilet and shower block that opened in 2020 was a fantastic investment by the team and is always kept spotlessly clean. The extensive farm fields beyond the main site open every summer for a few weeks, and these have water taps dotted about, which is really convenient too.

The management team are great - Mark the Campsite Manager treats us like mates, and we always have a good laugh with him. He's really helpful if you ever need anything; nothing is too much trouble, he's a fantastic bloke. We usually have a chat with John the owner too when he's about, also very friendly to talk to.

10/10 would definitely recommend. We'll see you next year!

All the best,
Jonathan & Co.

The first thing you should know about Whitesands Camping is it’s location, literally 200m from the fabulous sandy surfers beach at Whitesands Bay. The cafe and ice-cream shack will keep you going all day for food and drink.
The second thing you should know is that the site manager Mark is the most helpful, friendly guy you could ever hope to meet. When we arrived, it was during the heatwave in July 2022, and as we only had a cool-bag in our tent. Mark lent us an electric cool-box and hookup cable and it absolutely made all the difference to our stay.
The site’s toilet and shower block is new, clean and everything works!
A few days a week, morning breakfast butties and evening pizzas are cooked onsite and well worth checking out!
Beyond the site, apart from the beach, the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path takes you to some stunning scenery and secluded beaches. The UK’s smallest city of St David’s is a two mile walk away (5 minutes by car) and has a beautiful cathedral at its heart. Some great pubs too!
We were going to stay at Whitesands for three nights, and ended up staying for seven. That says it all really, doesn’t it?

John and Eirwen

We spent five glorious days enjoying the friendly hospitality of the team on site, and the beauty from the top field overlooking the beach. The sunsets were captivating, following which the Milky Way burst from the heavens clearer than I’ve ever seen it in the UK. The wash-house was kept clean, though some guests made the toilets inoperable on occasion, Mark made sure it was fixed quickly.
We were travelling back in time to when my sister and I spent time in St David’s as kids, and this was an incredible way to bring our own families back to rekindle the love we have for this part of the world.
We’ll be back.

We would prefer campers to have found their pitch in daylight, so as not to disturb others. If the office is closed you can pitch up and report in the morning. Our up to date status is at the Tariff tab on our web.

Main site has a gentle slope down to the sea. Farm fields are open in August, some with slopes (pitches along hedges are flatter), and some without (higher up); check out the gallery on the website @ Whitesands Camping. Kind regards, Famous Pete

Hi Do you guys allow dogs on the campsite
Answer from Famous P
St Davids Peninsula, United Kingdom
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park imposes a dog ban on Whitesands Beach between 1st May and 30th September. The coast path and nearby Porthsele or Porth Melgan beaches (15 minutes away) do not have dog restrictions. The site accepts well behaved owners and their dogs. All the best, Famous Pete.
