What a great place this is despite being in the middle of nowhere. The food in this restaurant is the best I have eaten anywhere. The service is first class. The only issue (its a small one) was that the wine list is overpriced. Having sad that it is probably the most extensive wine list around. The accommodation here is...

Our spacious room and equally large bathroom at the Royal Mail Hotel were extremely comfortable. Unfortunately, we were across the street from the main building where the pool was located and there was no Internet access in our room. Breakfast was outstanding including espresso drinks and cooked-to-order options such as salmon benedict with horseradish cream. I love the fact that...

Dear CoastalCruiser27 Thank you for your great review on the hotel and I pleased the breakfast was a stand out for you in your pictures. Apologies for the internet as we have limited capacity here in Dunkeld until the NBN gets rolled out. It has been a real problem here in Western Victoria but please accept my apologies. Sitting in a row of apartment units behind the hotel (and therefore the road) at the base of Mt Sturgeon (Southern end of the Grampians) the room was well appointed with a king size bed covered with a light though toasty doona, twin single couches, quality toiletries in the bathroom, an effective heating system and full height picture windows to...

Dear SuzzieJae Thank you so much for you your fabulous review.......it certainly made me smile and I am so pleased you enjoyed the Hotel and Dining room. The beer is something we are particularly proud of as it was another opportunity to express produce from our garden. In this case it was the lemon verbena which has this beautiful lemon...

When a booking mixup that was our fault found us with one night without accommodation, we were directed from Halls Gap to the Royal Mail at Dunkeld. Expecting a country pub with motel accommodation we couldn't have been more surprised. Both the dining room and the stylish accommodation exceeded any expectations. Our very well appointed (motel) room had superb views...

Stayed in a deluxe mountain view room at Royal Mail Hotel. Room was above average and did have a view of the mountain, also native plant gardens. Room appointments very good; bed comfortable; air-con maybe a bit noisy, but effective. We turned it off during the night. Had the eight course degustation menu at the restaurant; seems expensive, but you...

After visiting the Grampians, this hotel to the south of the region is a must do for something special. We were upgraded to a deluxe room (thanks!!) which was simply gorgeous and with stunning views of the mountains. For dinner we chose the 5 course degustation, even though my partner is more a chicken Parma type bloke!! I chose to...

We had lunch on a rainy Saturday passing through Halls Gap on the way to Warrnambool. Decided to go for the 3 course lunch in the dining room and it did not disappoint. For $50 we received 3 courses and a glass of wine or you could also do 2 courses and a glass of wine for $40. The food...

My partner and I made a last minute decision to travel to Dunkeld due to a work opportunity for me. We booked a table for 2 for lunch on the sunday and planned to stay in Hamilton saturday night as the website said all rooms at the Royal Mail were booked out. On saturday afternoon we were called to confirm...

We went for the 3 course dinner with friends. It is difficult to mess up sliced meats and terrines and cheese and breads so my entree and desert were acceptable though rather niggardly. The main however was a disaster, 2 small pieces of steamed fish, ditto potato and some accompaniments not easily identified, just edible but in no way enjoyable....

Was really looking forward to our stay but when we entered our room, it was a little disappointing. Room was dated, everything worked though. The view from the room balcony was nice. Hotel grounds were well kept, the kitchen garden tour is a must do. The tasting meal we had at the restaurant was disappointing as well. For 150 per...
