We arrived in Warburton on a Tuesday at Christmas time and the only place open for dinner was Alpine Retreat. We noticed lots of negative reviews on tripadvisor when we were researching a place to have dinner which worried us but we didn't have much choice. We were pleasantly surprised! Truthfully, I think you just need to order a typical...

A midweek dinner. Hotel was tired but main issue was the food at dinner. The pulled lamb was average with unusual ingredients added eg onions without that being indicated on the menu. The kangaroo and emu were over cooked, as were the "sweet potatoe" fries. If you want to have kangaroo on the menu, the chef needs to know how...

We booked a family room which was adequate - clean bedding but an old hotel so pretty tired. Unfortunately the door handle to the bathroom was too high for the kids but the door leading out of the room was perfectly accessible and not lockable from the inside so the 4 yr old became an escapologist! Meals were good pub...

Lovely, old façade. Great location, across the road from the Yarra River. However, the amenities are tired and need renovating. We had a river view room. Our room connected to a small verandah where smoking was allowed. We were woken all hours of the night and early morning by smokers chatter and the smell of smoke in the room. The...

There are not much dining options in Warbuton in the evening so we really didn't have a choice on where to go for dinner at 7.00pm. The Alpine Hotel was open and I read great reviews on the chicken parmys so we gave it a try. I expected the hotel to look run down from the reviews, and it was....

I took my son, daughter in law and kids out for dinner to the Alpine retreat hotel in Warburton, the kids had chips & nuggets, while the adults had porterhouse steak, it all tasted very nice, unfortunately my daughter in law found some hair in her meal, she spoke to the manager about it, and the cost of the meal...

2 hours waiting for a soup on a quiet Sunday afternoon and this is it.... What a shame, rude staff, over priced, dirty tablecloths, food still on seats from last customers and over certainly rated with one star. What a crying shame.... So much potential could be had in this beautiful heritage building alas I have nothing good to say...

Great meals and very reasonable prices... the alpine burger with fries was only $17 and delicious. Bookings are essential.. we were there on Sat and Sun night for dinner and both nights were very busy.

As we entered the hotel we where greeted by a dirty carpet smell it is a very distinctive smell and stays with you for awhile as we went up to our room we could see that there was a lot of renovating going on and re carpeting of hallways. Room was clean, old and in need of an upgrade. Overall...

We found this Hotel to be a cheap and cheerful overnight stay when we did the Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail recently. The hotel has lots of different room types. Choose one with river views. This is not a high-standard hotel, but is undergoing some renovation/repainting. Whilst the beds were comfortable, the carpet in our room was dirty and needed a bit...
