If you only need a decent bed and a working TV and shower this is a decent place to stay. Breakfast included was old muffins, dried out cereal (without milk) and sour orange juice. Did not see anything else to try besides coffee. Close walk to the Cracker Barrel restaurant and plenty of parking in the lot and the street.

This hotel is located in a nice neighborhood, where is easy to go to downtown or other places. You can have all kinds of fast foods restaurants you want and also a Walgreens is located in the other corner. The was room was clean and big enough and also have a fridge and a micro-oven. Don't expect too much of the breakfast. It's a joke, only a cereal and coffee..By the price, I would stay here again!

I almost hate to write this review because I feel as though I am giving away a secret and I have to be brutally honest. This place not only serves it's purpose... to provide lodging and serve as a base-camp, but it saves you a lot of bones in the process. Normally we stay at the Embassy Suites by the airport, but we booked this hotel to save some money for us and the friends that joined us on this trip. We did so after looking at quite a few reviews and making a calculated decision that this place, although not in an uppity part of town, will still provide a great stay.

We (my wife and I, along with two other couples and another lady) checked in for a three day stay on 9/4/14. The hotel itself has a one two story unit and another single story unit, along with a small office/breakfast area. It also has a nice outdoor swimming pool which was still open (after Labor Day) because of warm weather. There are no elevators, so if you are staying on the second level, you will taking the stairs. This presented no problems to us, even with the multiple bags that the ladies packed and a mega-cooler packed with a weekend of brews and snacks. Check in was relatively swift and would have been really fast had we not sat in there and joked with the hotel clerk for some time.

Once we checked in and made the steps up to our room, we found a room that was relatively basic. Two queen beds, flat screen television, small bathroom/shower, and a vanity/sink area just outside the bathroom. There was a small refrigerator (that works extremely well), as well as a hair-dryer, iron and ironing board. We did not have a coffee machine, but this didn't present a problem to us as you could either go to the office during breakfast for it or go to one of the many options located nearby.

We did not partake of breakfast, but it looked very limited. But as I mentioned above, there are quite a few options very close. For breakfast, there is a Waffle House about 1/4 mile down Dickerson Blvd. There is also a Tiger Mart about 1/10 mile away from the hotel (again on Dickerson). Restaurant wise there is a Wendy's and a Church's Chicken adjacent to the hotel. There is also an Arby's, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Chicago Style Gyros nearby. All are probably within a 1/4 mile. A friend that I was visiting in Nashville recommended Princes Hot Chicken Shack which I heeded. It is less than 1/2 mile away... left at the light (Dickerson), right on Ewing (the next traffic light) about 100 feet down on the right.

Shopping needs can easily be taken care of from the hotel as well. There is a Walgreen's at the light with Dickerson (1/10 mile). There is also a Walmart less than a mile away.

Getting around from the hotel is pretty easy. It is really close to Briley Parkway and I-65. So you can jump them and get to where you want to go pretty fast. There is some construction being done in the area which could affect your travel. You can also exit the hotel and turn left on Dickerson and follow it down into the city. However if you use the latter route, some of the neighborhoods in that direction look a little rough. However, we didn't experience any problems. Just use your best judgement.

We only ventured into downtown once with our own vehicle. We chose to take taxis when we ventured out. The first night we were there, we got a great driver and elected to use him the remainder of our trip. We went downtown one evening and to the Gaylord Opry area the next two nights. Each trip cost us in the neighborhood of $22 (The fare was around $15 and they charged a $1 per person fee).

So here is where the brutally honest part comes in... we found this hotel great. It is a little worn... some cracking here and there, but we didn't come to Nashville to sit in our room. If you came to Nashville to vegetate in your room, then by all means go to the higher-scale places and lap it up in luxury. I'll take saving money to spend every day over that. To us it was a no-brainer. Our trip was great!

The towels were old & yellow went to Walmart to buy our own towels. Not that close to downtown as stated. There was a musty smell. Sheets were also very old with stains. WiFi only worked first night staying. Hotel really wasn't ready to invite guests to stay. Also there was a creepy attic(see photo below)

Response from General Manager, Owner at Econo Lodge North
Responded Oct 28, 2023
Hello robingW318YA, Taking extra care over the finer details definitely makes all the difference to a memorable visit, so we thank you for sharing these observations with us. I was very disappointed to hear of your feedback with regard to the unacceptable condition of the towels and sheets, and have shared your comments with our housekeeping team. It was also disappointing to hear that there were issues with the WiFi. Please be assured I have shared your feedback with our Technical Services Team for their urgent review. Once again, many thanks for taking the time to review your experience. Every guest is important to us and we know that it is only through listening and encouraging such feedback that we can reach and maintain the excellent levels of service expected. We hope you will join us again for a much-improved next stay. Best, Craig Patel, GM

At first glance, we weren't sure about this one because we had never been to the area and were not sure about the neighborhood. However, upon talking with the manager and then entering the room, we were pleasantly surprised. This was a very nice hotel. The manager was very nice and accommodating. We were only planning on staying a day or two, but our business took longer than expected and ended up staying almost a week. Very clean and the staff was very nice.

We were here to visit Nashville, but our trip coincided with the SEC tournament. Consequently, a lot of hotels closer to the city were booked up. While this hotel isn't located in the nicest part of town (and is actually really a motel), the rooms were fine. Overall, I wouldn't say safety was a huge concern, since it is right off the highway and generally the premises seemed secure. It was also only a 10 minute drive from downtown, so even a taxi/uber was around $10 to go out on Broadway or to the Grand Ole Opry. The rooms were clean and nice, with lots of TV channels and good wifi. Overall, considering the low cost of a room here during a busy time in Nashville, this hotel is a good bargain!

For $44/night on Priceline I couldn't ask for better. Big room with fridge & micro, very clean. Comfortable bed. Good free WiFi. Only issue was a "ticking" fridge -- accommodating staff tried to fix and offered to move me to another room. Yes, not much at breakfast bar in lobby, but coffee was good and there are plenty of breakfast options, including Jay's Diner, within 1/2 mile.

The room we had seemed clean. We checked in late and out early but it was quiet and the bed was ok. The neighborhood looked seedy. There were people running from room to room slamming doors as if they were arguing. Looks like maybe the guest were long term guests. Was ok considering the price was low but I wouldnt have given anymore than I did. I also wouldnt be outside walking around in the parking lot especially at night.

Accidentally booked at two facilities. 15 minutes after checking in I found out and asked if I could get a refund. The staff member said ok, I will have to check your room.

We had a laptop on the bed and one suitcase. And one can in the bin.

He said the room would need cleaning again and therefore would not refund. He would not give us 5 minutes to just tidy up.

We could go if we want but no refund.

WHY?!?!?!?!
