My granddaughter and I stayed at The Russell for four nights, it was the perfect hotel for us. We usually used Uber to get around, and great location of The Russell made our pick up and drop off quick and fairly inexpensive. I did rent a car, so having the parking lot right across the street was appreciated.
The hotel was clean and quiet, and the stained glass windows were beautiful to look at, the common area was very comfortable, and I enjoyed several cups of hot tea that was provided there

If you're looking for a more neighborhood feeling as you stay in Nashville, The Russell is perfectly located. Quiet residential streets surround the hotel but just a few blocks are great restaurants and a quieter but just as engaging bar/band scene at 5 Points with many bars with great reputations for booking great music. It just won't be the drunk, rowdiness of Broadway...which was great for what we were after. The hotel is perfect if you don't require a lot of fussiness. You're on your own with clean rooms and well thought out details, like sound machine in your room, filtered water filler (carbonated too!) in the public space, steamers in the room, etc. Hardly heard anyone and only saw a few other guests in the beautiful entrance with all the stain glass windows.

The Russell is in a very beautiful old church and I really enjoyed the decor inside. The location is very ideal, you're within walking distance to a number of restaurants and bars in East Nashville. You're also very close to downtown and the rest of Nashville. It was very quiet there despite being so close to busy thoroughfares. The lobby is also a really nice chill spot and we got a lot of fun out of sipping our coffee in the morning. There's also a podcast room if you're jonesing to record a podcast during your vacation. Beds were clean and comfortable and the check in process was very easy. They also give a portion of the room cost to homeless non-profits.

I only had two beefs, neither of which were enough to ruin our experience. Number one was that there was no toothpaste in the bathroom. I know it's not usually normal to have toothpaste in some places, but the accoutrements in the bathroom were so extensive (multiple lotions, soaps, and even makeup remover) that it made the lack of toothpaste that much glaring. That's okay though, it was just a quick walk down to the Turnip Truck to pick some up. The other thing is that one of the towels that had been left for us had a nasty stain on it. Stuff happens though, and everything else in the room was clean.

Will definitely be staying here again next I'm in Nashville and recommend it for anyone.

The Russell was amazing. Booking was simple - you can choose the exact room you want. Staff were very helpful with questions before and during our stay. Check in/out was so easy. The building is incredible. Rooms spacious and had everything we needed. Location was ideal as it was CMA so it was nice to be slightly out yet Uber was never more than $8 a trip. I have never stayed at a hotel with no staff on site but it was all so organised that it didn't matter. Would definitely recommend.

We absolutely loved this hotel! So much that I am already looking forward to our next stay. The check in process was seamless, the atmosphere calm and relaxing, very aesthetic. The bed was unbelievably comfortable. I usually wake up from a hotel very sore, but not here. I promise you, you would not be disappointed. This place is where it's at.

The Russell is a converted church from the early 1900s. The church had a long history of helping those in need, and this is still the mission of The Russell Hotel. The building is beautiful, especially the stained glass rose windows. The business model is unique, as there is no front desk staffing. Reservations are made online and door codes and other info are provided via email. We found the hotel room to be very comfortable, even an interior room. The bed was comfortable, and when I requested a different pillow (softer), two were delivered promptly. Hallway noise is a factor, but while we were there the 10 pm-8 am noise restriction period was conscientiously adhered to. The room was a good size as was the bathroom, and the shower is really nice. The robes are lovely, as was the complimentary snack basket. We found tons of good restaurants and bars in walking distance, as well as lovely neighborhoods with unique historic homes. Morning coffee/tea is good and a nearby store called The Turnip Truck had any food supplies needed. I absolutely recommend this East Nashville hotel to anyone looking for an alternate to the downtown area.

We had girls' long weekend here. We actually split our time between two rooms (2 nights in each) to mix it up. The 2:1 bunk bed room was perfectly nice, but we absolutely adored the tower room -- it's gorgeous! We appreciated the details of both rooms like the clothes steamer, super plush robes, local snacks and eye masks. The actual building is even more striking than in photos. And free luggage lockers in the lobby is such a nice feature: they're huge and we definitely used them! The neighborhood is also very walkable with lots of charm. Our only complaint is the lack of hotel recycling -- that should be updated ASAP. Otherwise a very thoughtful and beautiful hotel.

This boutique hotel (and hidden find) has the wow factor. From the amazing architecture to the delicious coffee (complimentary), local sweet treats upon arrival and immaculate bedrooms and large bathrooms, we loved The Russell! Plus the hotel’s owners were immediately available on text to provide local recommendations. We wanted to experience Nashville but have a more relaxed hotel experience away from the Broadway scene so The Russell was a great choice!!

What an awesome experience. As a frequent business traveler, it was a breath of fresh air to stay at the Russell! The location is in a neighborhood, but still within minutes of everything you could want to do in Nashville. I had stayed near Broadway earlier in the week and it was a blessing not to listen to the constant sirens and bus tours.
The hotel is in a renovated church which is really, really cool. I was in a room with a skylight and it was clean, quiet, and offered everything that could be needed.
The check-in and check-out process is easy and completely automated.
Absolutely recommend The Russell; it’s an experience you don’t want to miss.

I absolutely LOVED my stay here. It’s in East Nashville which is was perfect . Quiet tree lined street with gorgeous homes surrounding. We walked over to Butcher & Bee for dinner and enjoyed the rainy walk home.

Check in and out was seamless. The common areas down stairs are well appointed and immaculate.

Our room was so comfy with a Dyson air fan and some great snacks. Comfy robes and delightful shampoo and soaps.

A quick Uber will get you downtown if that is what brings you to Nashville

We felt home away from home!
A highlight was - while enjoying the common area before heading out I was able to see the handoff of funds to the organization providing showers. I could hear them talking about how the Shower Up team is growing. It showed me their mission in action. Very cool.

I will come back to Nashville just to stay here again. I loved it.
