We spent 5 nights at the Timothy Demonbreun House for our honeymoon and would have stayed 7 if the other nights weren't already booked by other guests.
Richard, the host, manager, and owner is the great grandchild of the namesake and famed Timothy Demonbreun, whom even a main road in Nashville is named after.
Richard was great and took phenomenal care of us. He takes this B&B to heart. It's like his baby. He makes fresh to order breakfasts and goes so far as raising the chickens there that provide the eggs.
We will definitely stay there again when we return again to Nashville. We reside in Texas.

We visited Music City for our babymoon and decided to stay at this B&B because of the reviews and boy did it deliver on all fronts. The home is lovely and Richard was the icing on the cake. He makes you feel like you're a part of the family and is just a wonderful host and cook! The breakfast was to die for every morning and he would offer great recommendations for things to do or where to eat. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Thank you for the wonderful review, Katie! It was a joy having you here and introducing you to our beautiful chickens. I know you and your husband loved the fresh scrambled eggs and cheese for breakfast!! Hope you can return one day with your son to enjoy another stay with us!

Amazing stay! Wish I could give 6 stars. Richard is amazing and so friendly. He goes above and beyond. Also quite the chef. Breakfast is served with fresh eggs from the chickens in the back of the house. Absolutely will visit again!

If I had to sum up this place in short; Overpriced, dirty, neighbors had bars on the windows, very small & cold room, zero attention to details and lots of talk of how he'll be our personal concierge. We do not expect special treatment, just a fair product or service as paid for & advertised. We've stayed in B&Bs for years and I've never written a bad review until now.
Upon arrival Richard said "Never use the front or side door . . . a guest left & forgot to lock the door and we found a homeless man inside." The entrance guests use, was the converted garage, complete with gas fireplace, filthy windows and a TV that to change the channel, you had to go up the stairs to the kitchen & change the channel on that TV. We arrived at the stated time and he immediately took us up to the room which he said "No one has been here for a week, so I need to vacuum it". The hair ball in the bathtub was an instant turnoff. He advertises "Claw foot shower/leg tub", what he doesn't say is the finish has worn off & repaired with spray paint and the wallpaper is peeling on every wall.
Warning! Do not turn on the fan in this room, the dirt caked on the blades and the doorways is what you'd expect in an Out of Order bathroom at a single pump truck stop. The only heat in the room was an electric radiator type, not what you'd expect for $300 a night.
We have returned repeatedly to most every B&B we've stayed, even the inexperienced Innkeepers were gracious and had very clean homes. By any stretch this place could never be called clean.
As luck would have it, we had a real emergency that demanded we return home, Richard was kind enough to charge a $50 penalty for leaving by noon. Then when I sent an email suggesting it might have been an honest error, he asked that I call him, when I did he called me a creep and hung up. So much for honest graciousness.

This gentleman really sets the bar for being a jerk and a loser. He makes a 4 day reservation a month and then two hours post checkout time which is 10 am on the second day, needs to check out with no notice. As most B&B's we do have a 5 day cancellation notice which he acted like did not apply to him. But in the spirit of Christmas I was happy to give him a full refund but did retain $50 of his deposit for checking out to hours late. You would think he would appreciate my concession. But then "The Jerk" writes this fictional short story after calling me and demanding I send him a check for $50. This is the best laugh I have had in 2020 and want to thank him for never attempting to stay here in the future: I would not even allow him to stay in the yard.

We got Richard's undivided attention during our stay and it was delightful. He provided custom hearty breakfasts and engaging conversation. The old house is charming with an interesting history. Our room could have used a good dusting and the house needs some more attention to maintenance, but it was a very good experience.

Thank you for the review and I am sorry that you did not share your concerns while here relative to maintenance. Not sure what that might be and we will work harder in an effort to make sure our "dusting" passes the white glove test!!

Trying to find a place to stay in Nashville during Covid-19 was not easy...However discovering the Timothy Demonbreun House was fantastic. We stayed 3 nights in the game room. A beautiful room with a fantastic sleep number bed, it’s own a/c and a pool table which has plenty of space in this huge room. The pool is great. My husband and I stayed one day just reading and swimming. The inn is super clean. The outstanding feature is the owner, Richard. He cannot do enough to make your stay comfortable and easy. Made to order breakfasts of whatever you want. A beautiful dining room with lots of socially distanced tables. We found a home away from home. Don’t hesitate if thinking of coming to Nashville. You have found the perfect getaway!

We were booked to stay here for three nights, but only stayed the first night. When we arrived, there was rubbish at the door. This rubbish was still there when we came in that night at 10 o'clock. The cushions on the lounges at the pool were very dirty. The room wasn't the room we had booked. We were given a very small room (the bed was inches from the wall) and could hear the air conditioning running right above us. The bathroom floor was dirty. Richard asked us when we would like our breakfast. We said as early as possible so we agreed on coffee at 6:30 and breakfast at 7:00. At 7:45, there was no sign of Richard and no coffee and no breakfast. I also didn't like the fact that he didn't take credit cards and we had to pay half of our money by check. Now I understand why, we didn't get the $100 owed to us and had no recourse to do so.

This review should be removed as the couple decided to check out early and demanded the $100 deposit paid for the last night or they would write a terrible review. Basically, this is just extortion and should not be tolerated by TripAdvisor.

The TD house is an old city mansion that has not been updated in many years. Old carpets, peeling wallpaper, dim lighting (be careful shaving!), this is a musty, faded beauty that no longer justifies a 5 star rating.

Located in a scruffy neighborhood, the TD house is not walkable to anywhere you might want to visit in Nashville. The clubs on lower Broadway are over 2 miles away. The hip spots on the West Side or on 12 South are even further. The innkeeper misled us about walkability when we asked prior to booking our room.

To make matters worse, the innkeeper’s personality swings erratically between off-putting saccharine sweet and downright hostility. Readers can get a taste of his passive aggressive side from his snarky and unapologetic responses to other reviews on this site.

In short, nothing about this property—not the amenities, not the condition, not the location, nor the hospitality—justifies a five star rating….and certainly not the cash-only five star prices ($200 a night, 250 on weekends) that he charges. Visitors can do much better for the money in Nashville.

This is funny to read. These lovely guests demanded a refund for their last night's stay with no notice whatsoever and threatened to post a nasty review like this. Best wishes to them in their travels!

Approximately 2 1/2 weeks after we made a reservation by phone at this B&B Mr. Richard Demonbreun wrote us a letter cancelling our reservation and returned our cheque. He claimed that the cheque had taken 10 days to arrive, that our phone # didn't work when he tried to call, and he had just rented it to another couple the day before he received our cheque. He doesn't accept credit cards to hold a reservation. When we were originally booking with him he was very pushy, trying to encourage us to stay longer, and was critical of other accommodations suggesting they were inferior and there were bedbugs without even knowing what our alternate plans were.
This may be a lovely place but be prepared to be cancelled.

It is truly unfortunate when a person like this comes completely unglued because they can't get my hot cakes and scrambled eggs and cheese for breakfast. The kind lady's reservation was cancelled and deposit refunded due to legal matter which I could not avoid attending in Knoxville, Tennessee. With an entire month of written notice she apparently could not find suitable accommodations for her ONE night in Nashville at some other B&B or hotel and wrote this. Go figure.

There are a couple of options at Demonbreun House which might work for you- the Chardonnay suite has 2 bedrooms or the big game room would work. We LOVED the b and b!!! Richard (owner) is usually quick to respond to emails etc. However, he is usually booked for months in advance, especially on weekends. Give him a holller though!
