Booked evening meal when visiting nearby auction earlier in 2016 and loved it so much, we booked again for 2 consequetive evenings again in October 2016. Nothing had changed - such friendly family staff made us feel like we were eating in their dining room and as if we were part of their family. Food was to die for, nothing...

Good food. Warm welcome and average prices. Old style pub with good cask ales and the normal nasty lagers you get in most pubs. The ales are good though abs they let you taste them first if you ask. Food is hot, freshly cooked and relatively quick. Home cooked, cut chips are gorgeous! A warm welcome awaits you.

Booked for a pub meal here on a Friday night. Very accommodating and the food was top notch and plentiful. One of the best pub meals that I have had. It was nicely cooked and well presented. Staff made sure we were enjoying our meal. Would definitely go again.

Having seen the display board outside the pub on a recent visit to this pub we decided to ring up and ask for some fish and chips for our Friday tea. They had run out on a Friday night! Well it's now back to the Chinese down the road. So much for trying a change.

Did not stay in one of the rooms but went for lunch and was very pleased with my choice. The food was good pub food, nothing too special (not a criticism, definitely not) but gave the impression that the chef liked cooking the food she served. A nice touch was the chef came and collected the plates and asked whether...

A very friendly village pub, nice big fire and welcoming atmosphere. The room was OK, nothing fancy, but very clean. Did not have evening meal but had a lovely cooked breakfast. Would stay again if in the area.

We were looking for a base to spend a couple of days in Ely (my birthplace!) and the surrounding area and found the choice in Ely itself at only a couple of weeks' notice to be rather limited and uninspiring. The Village Inn looked a reasonable bet, so lured by the promise of Superkingsize beds (love a big bed!), we...
