Detailed Reviews

This was our first trip to Piney Point Fishing Resort and first time fishing Watts Bar; we loved both! The owners, Jane & Wayne are fantastic people. Jane helped determine which accommodation would work best for us and her suggestion was perfect. We stayed in 10B and had a great view of the lake from our back porch. It was so peaceful and relaxing.
We had a covered slip for the week for our boat, power hookup for charging (bring an extension cord) and the slips were located right in the front of our room. It was a perfect setup. Out each day and fishing in no time. We predominantly fish for bass but during the week we caught beautiful large mouth, nice size small mouth, crappie and catfish. Plus very few were small fish-this is a Great Lake to fish. There is a store on the property and they have gas for your boat as well.
The room was comfortable & had everything we needed. This was only a 3 hour drive for us so we stocked up on food for the week and took it with us. There is a Piggly Wiggly in town...approx 7 miles or so from the resort for shopping as well.
Best of all, this is a pet friendly resort so we were able to take our dog Louie. He had a great time with lots of places to roam and made some new friends. His favorite was Jane & Wayne’s dog Bip!
If you are looking for some great fishing, this is your place. Or if you just want to get away and unwind...you can’t go wrong here. We will return.
Jane & Wayne, thank you for a great week!!!

Our family spent another wonderful Labor Day weekend with Wayne and Jane and as always, it was wonderful....our check in was quick (under 2 minutes!) and they already had the air conditioning on and the cabin ready for us!
We had one of their pontoon boats for Saturday and it was ready to go early for us! Boat was great and we enjoyed our day zooming about the lake!
On Sunday we went swimming on the beach, had ice cream from the store and explored the local area....Wayne dropped off our firewood for our campfire and we finished up with smores!
Checkout was quick and easy and we can't wait to come back again. This is without a doubt the best place to stay on the lake with the best host!

My wife and our kids just got back from another fun 3 days at Piney Point! We once again had the best time! It was relaxing and peaceful. We stayed in A frame #9 again. It is HUGE! our 3 girls were upstairs in the loft and had room for at least 2 more people up there. Our little guy had a room to himself and plenty of room for more. The cabin was furnished with everything you would need in the kitchen and the bathroom! We had a pontoon boat for 1 day and enjoyed our time out on the lake! When not on the lake we spent time at the swimming area as well as having a campfire and making smores! The best part of Piney Point are the owners! Wayne and Jane are the best and feel like family. We can't wait to return on Labor Day!!

My family and I spend a week every year at Piney Point. We have so much fun. The scenery is great, the fishing is excellent. It is also nice to have a beach to swim at If you have young ones. The owners are also very nice.

Our family had a reunion in TN, June 2007. Most stayed at another resort but there were not enough cabins for everyone so a couple of families stayed at Piney Point.
Although the other resort had more modern cabins, and a restaurant on site, the cabins and boat rentals were more expensive. The driveways were very steep, long walk down a lot of steps to get to the lake, nice balcony with a minimal view of the lake as you had to look thru a lot of trees to see the water.
Overall I was much happier with our Piney Point cabins. The area was not as crowded, the cabins although a little older and more rustic (like a cabin should be) were neat, clean and comfortable. Nice front porch with table and chairs with a beautiful view overlooking the lake. A picnic table out front, a grill for cooking out and small clothes line to hang wet swimsuits.
Cabin has air-conditioning, your basic kitchen with refrigerator, stove, small microwave and , includes a small variety of pots, pans, dishes and silverware. All towels for bath and kitchen are provided, just bring your own beach towel! Living room with couch, inn table and chair, a TV that picks up a few channels, and a dining table that would seat 6. The bathroom has a shower. We had a 2 bedroom each bedroom had a double bed and a twin bed so could easily sleep 6. Bedding is all provided. They also have one bedroom cabins and an A-Frame that holds up to 10 I believe. .
Piney Point's cove doesn't have a lot of boat traffic so it is quiet, peaceful and serene. You can fish off of a few different docks, or rent a pontoon boat or a fishing boat for very reasonable prices. Piney Point has 2 paddle boats FREE for guests to use. We spent an enjoyable time paddling around the lake one afternoon. They have a nice swimming area with a dock for sunning and floats for guest to use.
The owners, Wayne and Jane were getting ready to open a volley ball court on the beach. The have been updating the cabins and grounds as time permits and were so friendly and accommodating. They made us feel very welcome.
They come around and clean the grills, pick up used towels and provide fresh ones and ask if there was anything you needed. Jane looked up information on the internet for us and let us use their land line to make calls and reservations to go White Water Rafting. Wayne gave us some tips on where to eat in town and fishing in the area. They are the nicest people and seem to really enjoy their guests and want them to have a good time.
The cabins do not have phones, neither did the other resort. Unfortunately cell phones unless it is Verizon can't get signal due to all the trees and hills. But it's a vacation who needs a phone?
Another BIG PLUS, they allow pets for those of us who hate to leave our furry families behind. My brother brought their 2 doxies and they only charged a one time $5 fee for each animal for the whole week, which is VERY reasonable.
They also have a fire ring area where you can build a bonfire and look out at the lake. Plenty of woods and trees everywhere if you like to hike or explore.
The walk to the dock and lake is short and easy, across your yard, cross the road and down a short sloped grassy bank and your are right there! No millions of steps to go up and down.
The office has movies, and books for guest to use. A few basic supplies, ice, bait and some T-Shirts, coffee cups and mugs reasonably priced for souvenirs.
We had a great time. Was fun and relaxing, my brothers family and I hated to come back home to Kansas and Missouri. There web site has good information and pictures so you can get an idea of how the resort is set up and how pretty the area is. I hope review helps you. I would definitely recommend this resort.

My two malamutes were welcome. We stayed in a one bedroom cabin that was very clean. The bed was comfortable. Kitchen was completely outfitted, right down to dish towels and paper towels. All I needed was food! Wireless Internet was faster than I expected. Verizon phone had a few issues within the cabin, but fine outside. We were in a valley between ridges, I expected some cell phone issues. I parked right beside my cabin every night, try that at a hotel!
Each cabin has a nice view of the inlet and/or lake. It was quiet and relaxing. If you need anything, Jane and Wayne drop what they are doing and deliver fantastic service! I will definitely be staying there again!
Getting to it is a winding country road and two road signs were missing, hardly Wayne and Jane's fault! It is still easy to find if you follow Jane's directions. Forget Google Maps! It is Haskell Rd you turn off on from US 27, not Heiskell!
A huge plus for dog people, they charge per dog per STAY, not per night!! Yippeee!!! They were almost half the cost of what I had been paying for a hotel at Harriman!
I can't say enough good things about Piney Point Resort!! They are wonderful hosts with a beautiful place. They keep it clean. The grounds are kept mowed short, the cabins clean and well provided, the boat area is neat and tidy as well. They have a beach area, but I did not go down there. I’m sure it is clean and neat as the rest of the place.
I have already recommended it to several people. :)

The "A" frame cabin that we stayed in had the roof leaking and the beds were horrible. They had fleas in the bed linings, old dogs that had not been treated for fleas and tried to go inside the cabins as if they were owners pets!! We were told that they had strict rules but seemed to us to be selective as to enforcing the rules. We pulled our boat up the wrong driveway because their wasn''t any sign to tell us which way to the launching ramp and were jumped on by the owners when we backed out because we accidentally ran off the gravel road into the sparce grass. I will never stay at this place again and never recommend it to ANYONE!

We had a family reunion here in May of 2006. It was a great place as we all had our own cabin, but it was easy to plan and eat together. The grills were perfect, the weather was great and the fishing was unbelievable. We hope to plan another reunion there this year. Faith Marshall
